I just found out today that the Feds are going to require me to jump through another set of hoops. As a family doc I do DOT exams as a courtesy for patients. There's a new requirement that all docs in order to do the exams must be certified by something called the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners of the DOT by May 21, 2014.
http://nrcme.fmcsa.dot.gov/index.aspxThe Feds claim: "The goal of the National Registry is to promote and preserve the highest level of professional standards, training and care among medical examiners." As I understand the process we will have to take a training course and then an exam in order to be certified--and of course pay a fee.
Anyone else heard much about this? I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle of getting certified.
