For the past couple of weeks, when I start up AC in the morning, it says it's already running. I have to go to the task master to "end task", then start up AC as per usual. I had tech support log in and fiddle around with it. Their fix lasted one startup. It's only a minor daily annoyance, but everything worked fine for 2 years before this. I also worry about losing data by "task-ending" instead of "Quitting". Any thoughts?

I have had this problem with it 'hanging' for years. It is one of the annoyances about AC that I have learned to live with. I wish there was a fix!

You will not lose any data. You will not lose any data. By the way, how are you turning off or keeping on your computer at night. Are you locking your computer or logging off. If you are shutting down your computer or logging off, it shouldn't be an issue. Oh, and finally, if you do simply lock your computer, do you shut down AC or leave it running.

This is a bug that AC seems to be aware of, and I think at one point they even reported that it has been fixed. I have a sense that it occurs less often than it used to, but is clearly still there.

I agree with Bert that you won't lose data by hitting "end task" in this setting.

Whenever this comes up, it leads to a discussion of when to turn off your computer, and when to turn off AC... issues which are otherwise pretty trivial (but which seem to evoke strong emotions from some). I see no reason to turn off AC daily. Sure, if your computer restarts for an update or whatever, you must restart AC. Otherwise, don't restart AC (just log out at the end of the day) and don't regularly shut down the computer, and you won't have to deal with this issue. Or at least, you will deal with it less often.

It's known to happen. Just make a shortcut on the desktop to a batch file. Same effect as end process on the task manager.
taskkill /f /im "Amazing Charts.exe"

I can send you the file if you need it.

At the risk of drawing fire...
At the end of the day, I quit AC and lock the computer. If I simply log off AC, it seems to run much slower the next day.
The ONE TIME last month that I actually shut down the computer, I came in the next morning to a dead power supply that had to be replaced. Yeah, I know, just coincidence, but the aversion to shutting down the computer for me is like trying to eat something that gave me food poisoning before.
AC Tech did tell me the problem would probably go away if I updated to 6.3. Truth or fiction?

Dave: Fiction. I am running 6.3 and it happens to us here. I talked with tech support and he was surprised that you still have the kill the process sometimes, but it seems to be a known bug that they can't find a fix for!
so it goes....
