Trying to get going with meaningful use and ran the wizard. I notice that I come out 0% on medication reconcilation. I am a neurologist and thus don't function as a PCP but rather as a consultant. Therefore I am not sure if I am to check the box "transfer of care" on the medication page. Since only part of care is managed by me do I check this, of say that no patients are transfered to my care. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Open Current Medication List, check lower right check box "Medication Reconciliation Complete", click the "Save Changes" button, then you can close the box. When you click on the green "Meaningful Use" button, you should find near the bottom, "Menu 7: Medication Reconciliation" the "Current Visit" column for that item should have changed from a red "Not Entered" to a green "OK". There are a couple of gotchas that can cause problems:
1. If you start a note one day, and try to finish and sign off the following day, the "Meaningful Use" Menu 7:" item will revert to "Not Entered." You have to go back through the steps above to reconcile the med list.
2. If you wrote a prescription, then reconcile after the prescription is done, the new medication you wrote will show up on the "Current Medications" list, as if they were on the med when they came to see you, instead of being started on it during that visit. This is a frustrating problem, as you cannot go back and correct a current medication list entry after you have written a prescription without fouling up the pre-visit medication list with the new prescription. If there is a way around this, I would love to know it, anyone else have any input?
