Hi all,
Is it possible to find the start and stop dates for prescriptions? I might not be looking in the right place, I can't find that info.

Hi John,
You can open up the script writer for the patient (click "Write Scripts" from the chart, or right click on the patients name from the Patient List and select "Medications & E-Prescribing") and click on the medication on the list. From here click the "History" button. This will display all the history for that med, including date first prescribed, any refills done by the office, and when it was discontinued and the reason.
Please PM me if you have any quesitons.

Hi John "rubacava,"
Not that I know of, it would certainly be a desirable feature for temporary medications like antibiotics, steroid bursts and such. The first answer to this question, from Mark, addresses a somewhat different issue.

Hi Mark, I think he is asking about an automatic removal of a medication from the list for a temporary medication. It would be nice if we could do this, perhaps have it show with a strike-out or something to indicate prescribed but completed. I have had problems with the accuracy of the feature your are referring to. I find the history frequently, and inaccurately, shows zero for the quantity prescribed and submitted. Also, unfortunately, while the medication refill window shows the pharmacy name requesting the refill, subsequent history information does not show the pharmacy for that particular prescription/refill.

It would be good for John to post again, and while many of us have asked for a 10 day course of amoxicillin to become inactive after 10 days, I don't think he is asking that.
I think he is asking about how do we know about the start date and end date, e.g.
Lipitor prescribed on 1/1/12 Lipitor inactivated on 7/7/12

Bert, Gotcha, you're probably correct, I didn't read carefully enough.
