A lot of EHR surveys/reviews suggest that AC is great for small practices, one to three providers. We have ten physicians and one, sometimes two, NPs/PAs. Anyone here have a practice that size? Has AC worked well for you?

DrJay,
It is a work in progress. We have 8 physicians. 3 internists, 4FP's, one pulmonologist.
One has been using e-clinical since about 2003, and still uses it. 5 of us have been using AC for about a year. And 2 others soon to start AC.
We are not in the cloud, but each have our own license and own server/data base on computer, for the EHR portion.
One is completely hardwired, the rest hardwired/encrypted wifi combo.
Our practice management/scheduler is lytec 11, on a common server.
Personally, I only have 3 computers for my "pod", medical dragon-11,updox, scansnap s1500 fujitsu scanner, and 4 HP laser jet p1102w printers--one in each exam room, one for my nurse and one for my desktop, and can't imagine practicing any other way, this past year has been the most stressful and fun year of practice since Aug 1993 when I started.
It can be done.
I did not do the cloud thing because I like having the EHR and practice management info on site, it is worth the hassle, because as an internist is about the only power I yield these days, having control of my data.
This sounds like a hodge podge, and is to a degree, but hopefully will allow me to practice another decade or so, but has definitely improved efficiency tremendously for me this past year.

I just implemented it in a practice with probably around 35 staff members, 8 providers, 10 nurses, front desk, schedulers, etc.

It does work. One thing I see is that a lot of practices need to run custom reports and need to generate clinic quality reports. You will want to implement those before you start using the system. AC is pretty customizable with tracked data and custom health maintenance rules. Imported items. It's very versatile and some of the tracking features are often overlooked.

I'm just curious - what were the basic specs for the server?

A Dell T310 server with a midrange quad core proc, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, 8G of RAM, and two 15,000rpm SAS drives in a RAID 1 will handle the load.

That's about a $3,200 server give or take.
