Someone here on the board (my apologies, I don't remember who), said that if I ran a report and corrected all the patients with wrongly entered insurance info (bad address, typo name, etc), that it would then be wiped from the system. I did this, and though I can't find a single patient with the wrong information and the insurance is not available to choose from in the reports section (now totally gone), it is still in the list of insurances to choose from in the demographics field. Did I misunderstand or is there a way to completely remove this wrong insurance info?
Thanks,
Amber

I am sure someone will be able to help you but meanwhile can you be more specific with your question. You lost me somewhere in the middle.

Sure, I'd be happy to (and Happy Birthday Bert). Along the way of doing business, we have had some incorrect insurance information put in for our patients. Example Blue Corss Blue Shield instead of Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc. So someone on this board (again, wish I could remember who) stated that if I ran a report and fixed all the incorrect ones that they wouldn't exist any more. So, I did that. Now, when I got into reports and try to search for the wrong one, it is indeed not there. However, if I go into the demographics screen to enter patient data, I can still choose the wrong one from the list. I am wondering if there is a way to remove that as well, as this is the only way our front desk won't repeat the mistake. If not, they will choose the wrong one (and have, over and over).
Thanks,
Amber

Dear Amber,

The problem may be that the insurance is still in a patients chart as the secondary insurance. The report we run only shows primary insurance. Export the practice demographics from Administrator Options. Then use the exported csv file to find any patients that still have the incorrect insurance information. Once all the entries have been corrected restart Amazing Charts on the server/main computer. This should remove it from the list. I know this is a lot of work so if you can live with it a bit longer version 7 will let you migrate all your current free text insurance plans to a codified payor. This will be able to be done all at once or by patient. I will be doing a demo of this at ACUC. I also have webinars scheduled for December for anyone that will not be able to attend ACUC.

I added a screenshot of how this migration screen will look when running it for all patients. Don't worry these are not real patients.

Thanks, Claire for coming to the rescue. Amber, I think that I was "someone on this board"...and I started to wonder if I was wrong. It appears that Claire has your solution. It also appears that V7 may put an end to the whole issue...

Thank you Claire and Jon for the help. This incorrect insurance issue is becoming a real bugger so I'm glad to have some resolution. Claire, I did watch a webinar on version 7 and nearly gave a standing ovation when I saw the codified insurances. Pretty sure my office would have had me locked up for standing and clapping at my screen, but might just be worth it.
I will try to be patient for 7, but in the meantime if my OCD kicks in, I have a fix.
Thanks again!
Amber
