Ok, so another physician we know has received a letter from BCBS. We have not received it yet. It outlines the Patient Centered Medical Home for them. Now, from what I am reading the PCMH requires a dung-load of extra work for the physicians, but they claim they will pay you more for doing (well, actually proving that you are doing) it. Because most of the things PCPs seem to already do.
They are going to pay a small amount per patient per month (PPPM or $*p*months) Uh....under $5 for commerical members. This is in addition to the current fee for service. I'm just curious as to the response by physicians to this, since I am not one. I am assuming when other insurers do this, their rate will be similar.

This is going on in Ohio, but the pay per member per month is about 7 dollars. I am having a hard time finding the extra manpower to become certified as a medical home physician...they say this will cost 15k to attempt. I just had to hire another girl to do all the extra paperwork. What next?

So why are they paying more in Ohio than in freaking expensive NY?
$15K to attempt huh?
Obviously we won't be trying that.
Unless somehow they want to provide funds to set things up.
