Our doctor is asking about a way to "undo" a prescription that was prescribed by mistake so that it doesn't show up in the prescription history?

The only solution I have come up with is to prescribe it (again) with a pharmacist note to disregard both prescriptions, so that the comment shows up in the Rx history.

Just right-click on the medication in Current Medications in the prescription writer and select remove.

Not that it's a big deal, but each script sent to the pharmacy is 10 cents. I usually know the pharmacy will figure it out. Many of them don't fill it until the patient shows up just for this reason.

You can also retransmit and reprint which allows you to send the script again without it's showing up twice.

Bert, I didn't realize there was a "re-print" feature on scripts. I've been often re-prescribing things so that it automatically documents the name of the script, and then I can transmit electronically or send via fax if the doctor didn't get to it during the visit. This also has the result of showing up twice in the Rx history.

The re-print/re-transmit features only seem to be accessible on the same day the Rx was prescribed... which makes sense. When experimenting with the re-print, I guess there is no way to have it pull up a preview first so that I can choose to print to fax instead? It just goes to the default printer automatically. Maybe I will just keep re-prescribing and then removing the second Rx.

So, for an Rx sent by mistake, we could also re-prescribe and send with a note to the pharmacist to disregard, and then remove the Rx's.

Thanks!

Or you can "remove" it and start over.
