I have my staff updating current medications and I find that when I look at the list it is not updating but when you open the box it shows all update medications. The problem is when printing the office note it does not have a true current medication

So - so your staff opens a chart, clicks on the meds, enters them and updates, clicks medication reconciliation (or whatever it says) then hits close - they should then be in the list. Do you have them do this while logged in as you so you just come in and start using the chart or are you having them forward chart to you ? If forwarded you should double click meds and hit the button for update meds and save - then should be all up to date - do this before you decide to prescribe new meds which will not show on the list, but in the plan.

Here's a work around. Double click on the medication box in the note. Check the box that says "pt takes no meds" then when it says "pt has active medications, do you want to inactivate them" click no. Then when you return to your note the meds will be in the proper place. The risk is that if they click yes, then you have to recreate the med list. Let me know if that works.

Bill's suggestion above has worked great for me. until I upgraded to 6.3.3 and now I cannot seem to get the current med list on the progress note to reflect the changes either made on the summary or in the med script page. The summary and the rx page and the med page sheet will all be the same, but the page on the progress note will not reflect the change. I have tried to do med reconciliation - not help I tried all sorts of combinations of activating and inactivating and I have not found the correct combination yet
Only if i remove all meds, it will correct the progress note to show no meds, but then I would have to individually add meds all over again.
Ideas?

Right you are. I updated to 6.3.3 and the work around no longer works. Cannot update the med box. 2 steps forward, one step back.

6.3.3 is set so that only changes done from med rec page are reflected on office note - open note, double click med list - change, delete, add meds and hit reconcile. This will show up on the note. Then during the visit you decide to change, add, delete by using the scrip writer which will show up in plan and not affect the med list until you sign note and then next visit it will work.
At least this is the way it works on my end. I think this was meant to fix problems patients had with it changing meds on the note.

Right you are. That worked. I actually don't think you have to hit the reconcile box for it to work, though there may be a meaningful use reason you might want to.
