I have been beta testing 6.3.1 for a while - did great with a few bugs which were reportedly fixed by 6.3.2. I just have not had time to upgrade again (10 computers).

I'm wondering if they finally fixed the bug where it doesn't always remember the preferred pharmacy

I can't seem to find the bug fix (in the change log) so that the Imported Items folders stay closed.

It has to be excluded given it's in the Big 81.

@Marty, See this is what happens when 75% of the changes are for MU. You get bad medicine. But, everyone will their $44 to $66 thousand dollars.

Wow, a lot of MU changes on the version description.

What is this improvement? "Orders printed from within the orders screen now contain all of the information that is present when printing from outside of the orders screen". Did they fix it so that if I order three things and send the order, that order can now be printed from the Orders window on one page?

"And a number of other fixes, tweaks, and enhancements" - is this code for the Preferred Pharmacy bug was fixed?

upgraded to 6.3.2 three days ago. So far so good. Still some minor issues but lab interfaces working properly now - initial upgrade to beta reslted in some Quest labs reporting accurate values but wrong titles.

Then we can't call it an upgrade, just a lateral move.

Can you define "minor issues"?

Minor issue: Any issue not listed on the survey of 81 requests.

Minor issue: A piece of code inserted by a developer to fig a bug that was so small the user was likely not to be aware the bug was there in the first place

Version seems faster then 6.1.2. Especially in the medicine prescribing windows.

We upgraded from 5029 to 632 a few weeks ago. Upgrade WITH AC tech support did not go well, took another day plus with Claire to get our workstations working properly -- had to manually uninstall and reinstall and remove registry entries from first install attempt. A royal pain but Kudos to Claire for spending so much time with us.

Minor errors:
[1] When using Remote Desktop keep getting startup message "The Amazing Charts Service is not running on the Main Computer" then loads and works so obviously it is working.
[2] Remote backup is not working but Tech support is working on it.
[3] My nursing staff is having trouble with this version re approving and refilling medications for patients and they are whining -- a LOT! Not sure what the problem is but will get back to the group. As a result they are inundating our physician staff with this function now....
[4] E Prescribing is MUCH, MUCH better and faster than 5029!!

We are pleased with speed improvement of the script writer in this version. It looks like orders and imported get faster with 6.32. Anyone have experience with this?

Hi James,

On here, I get laughed at, scoffed at and spit on (well not quite spit on -- besides it would be logistically hard to do), for uninstalling and installing. But, this isn't AVG or Adobe with very tight installer packages. This isn't a knock on AC, I simply don't feel comfortable with their install package.

In the future and even now, I would suggest using Your Uninstaller! 7 for ALL uninstalls. It basically uses the native uninstaller when possible, but then removes ALL registry entries plus more. The last time I mentioned this program, the next few posts were inundated with another program. It worked. I didn't understand it, because I didn't see anything wrong with this one.

I would set a restore point, reinstall AC, uninstall AC with the above program, reboot, then reinstall. Then I would always uninstall/reinstall this way. The program has other features and is very helpful in other ways. I have used it for years. It is in my list of top ten utilities I use from day to day. You can use a registry cleaner (which I don't trust), but they aren't specific. Remember, when you decide to reformat a slow computer, it is basically fixing the registry that counts.

Another possibility that many aren't away of is using the install DVD for that computer and installing over the original Windows. This IS NOT a reformat, it just fixes and .dlls and other corrupt files. It is easy to do if you watch the prompts. I'm glad to help if I can.

Another thing to do is to either get the free version of VMWare, paid version = Bert (can't get anything but the best), or VM Player. Then you can install to the virtual machine which makes it MUCH easier to go back to original points in the system, plus you can see how it is supposed to work.

I don't like that comment from James: "having trouble with this version re approving and refilling medications". That's a core AC function. I think I'll hold off a while.

Can I upgrade to 6.3.2 on all workstations from my Windows SBS2011 server or do I have to upgrade each workstation individually?

You can upgrade using group policy and the executable or a 3rd party program which will do this, but unless you have more than 10 to 15 computers, you are probably better off upgrading locally.

If you use RDP with the installer on the server or a location which can be shared, you can literally remote to each, run the installer, and even while it is installing, remote to another computer. That is the way I do it, and it takes about 20 minutes to do eight work stations.

If you really wish to do it using group policy, then you would have to contact Sandeep.

I imagine that has something to do with the SSDs you have lol. Probably take 10-15 for newer computers without SSDs. AC takes like 20-30 minutes to install per computer with those old XP P4s.

Instead of Your Uninstaller 7, I think we recommended Revo Uninstaller. They're both great. The main benefit of Revo is that it is free which everyone likes. I've used it plenty of times and it's worked pretty well.

Reformatting is just the sure way to make sure the problem will go away. Try to save it as a last resort because it takes times if you don't know how to image.

The VMWare idea is pretty cool with the snapshots and whatnot. Revert the snapshot to when you first formatted to make it brand new.

Bert has made plenty of excellent suggestions here. They're all good. Reformat would be the last option. The VMWare is a new way to handle things. It should save you a good bit of time in the future.

Sandeep,

Thanks for the kudos. I agree it takes 20 minutes per workstation. That is why I was referring to speed RDP. Start one. Go to the next remotely. Browse to the shared executable. Install. smile

Usually takes me about an hour to do about 8 computers. I would be interested in more info about group policy and executable (or 3rd party program.) Sandeep (since Bert put you on the spot) (or Bert) could you expound please.

Upgraded to 6.3.2 on June 16, 2012 (7 Windows 7 computers peer to peer networking)

Seems to be doing fine. No problem with Star TSP800 Prescription printer. Electronic prescribing working fine both ways.

I'll get back to GP later. Or Sandeep is the master.

As far as RDP goes, I personally witnessed Adam Lauer to nine computers in less than 12 minutes minus the remaining install.

RDP 6.1 on all WIN 7 computers (on XP as well). Of course, RDP on the computer you are installing from (not necessarily the computer with the installer) should have all of the computers with Fully Qualified Domain Names (computer.domain.local). You can use IPs, but FQDNs are (can explain later).

Remote to Computer 1, browse to installer, start install, remote to computer 2, browse to installer, start install, etc. This process should take less than a minute per computer = 9 minutes. Go back to each computer remotely and go through the OK, OK, Yes, etc. until it installs by itself. Go to next computer = 3 minutes. Of course, if you are uninstalling first that will take about twice the time depending on what setting Your Installer 7! is set on. Read Revo for everyone else. I suppose you could have a script, but I don't have one.

For another reason, use the FQDN.

Anyone getting the issues with 6.3.2 where trying to do a referral in chart doesn't pop the specialist onto the script but still saves properly? I can print off the "orders" menu after the fact once it saves it seems outside of the chart.

Installing with Group Policy can be tricky. Especially since the AC installer is an installer laced with 7 other installers.

You have the Prerequisites:
Quote
Directory of E:\Amazing Charts\ACPrerequisites

06/18/2012 06:18 PM <DIR> .
06/18/2012 06:18 PM <DIR> ..
03/22/2012 08:14 AM 2,357,760 BonjourSetup.msi
03/22/2012 08:14 AM 555,008 CassiniExplorerSetup.msi
03/22/2012 08:14 AM 445,952 CassiniServer2Setup.msi
03/22/2012 08:15 AM 74,619,392 CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_1.msi
03/22/2012 08:14 AM 2,959,376 dotNetFx35setup.exe
03/22/2012 08:16 AM 57,393,504 SQLEXPR.EXE
03/22/2012 08:15 AM 2,585,872 WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
7 File(s) 140,916,864 bytes
2 Dir(s) 535,981,178,880 bytes free

You would want to make sure these are installed first. As you can see they haven't changed since March 2012 even in the latest version. You can skip over the SQLExpr for sure since that's SQL Express. The rest you may or may not need. I think the only you will need is Crystal Reports, but your choice. If you've installed V6 recently, all of these will already be installed. You would need to put these in a script as a part of your GPO. All of them can be installed silently. If you're just upgrading, you don't need to worry about this.

The main thing is the MSI installer which has Amazing Charts. I couldn't get it to work with an administrative install. But I only tried for a few minutes. I found it much easier to have it silently installed as with everything else. A simple batch file could do all of these in one step. Pretty useful if you're setting up an entire office for the first time too. I usually lace Amazing Charts with Windows 7/XP.

Using the script, you would want to use Flags so the install would stop repeating. I.e. place a flag in the Windows folder or something (a place where people won't be fishing/deleting), then check to see if it exists. If yes, go to end. If not, proceed with installation. That's the same way I installed Office 2010 on all of my 10 computers. (And removed OpenOffice as well).

True. It does need some editing. Basically, it's improvements in MU with hyphens for last names. smile

@Sandeep,

Do you really think people are going to be able to follow those instructions? I mean flags? smile Again, great post and a lot of work, but I think that will chase users to go from room to room, lol.

A simple batch file.
"amazing_charts.msi /qn" would install it without any prompts.

I have just upgraded from 6.1.2 to 6.3.2. The version change log at http://amazingcharts.com/support/i-want-to-help-myself/version-change-log/ indicated "Added codified supplies to medications database."

I find that the medication database now includes choices for various glucose meters, including five differently-colored One-Touch Ultra Mini meters (black, blue, green, pink, purple), but no glucose test strips can be found for any of the various One-Touch, Accuchek or Glucometer meters. Has anyone been able to find the "codified" test strips, since that is what we are most often ordering/refilling, not new meters?

Also, check out the selections for Pampers--over 100 entries--likewise, for Huggies and Attends!!!! Do we really need those in the drug database?

Whether it's Surescripts or AC, it seems that someone needs to take the responsibility for getting the basic diabetic (and other) supplies entered into the database in a codified manner so that we can more easily prescribe them. When I free-text Accuchek Aviva glucose test strips, I get a warning message regarding scheduled drugs and a message indicating that I can codify non-scheduled items from the Write Scripts page by right-clicking on the drug name, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Any idea when 6.3.2 will be "GA'd" (that's become Generally Available as the "stable" version)?
