Well then I would worry about whether it gets here by the END of 2012 (rather than before the year starts). smile

Boondoc,
It's not too late to get going for 2012.
In your first year of attestation, you only need to report 90 days of data.
So you have the whole year to get it figured out.
The sooner you start practicing with it, the better.
And the sooner you develop your staffing work flows to assist you in collecting the data, the better.

However, if you attest in early 2012, do you have to already have collected the $24,000 in Medicare billing to collect the $18,000 MU payment, or do you have all year to bill and achieve the $24,000 threshold?

Medicare holds payment until you break the 24 k threshold

I attested 12/6/11. Last night my wife (and wonderful bookkeeper) came to bed late and says to me, "Well I finally figured out why we have $18,000 too much money in the checking account!"

She's definitely CFO material. As a solo doc, it's an incredible blessing to have a spouse willing to help with the financial side of things.
