I am having problems with AC picking up on my rapid strep orders for CQM reporting. For pt between 2 to 18 yrs with diagnosis of pharyngitis ( 462) and a RST ordered thru the order general tab and a signed encounter and CPT 87880 on the super bill, it is still not picking this up when I run a report. Can anyone help with suggestions? thanks Bala

Hi Bala.
Make sure you are also adding the office visit CPT code (99214 or something similar) to the superbill as well. These codes are needed to calculate a lot of the CQM's in Amazing Charts. Also make sure that the appropriate antibiotic was prescribed through Amazing Charts as well.

Sorry, Mark I don't believe this is accurate- because I have tried putting the strep test code, visit code in before and it did not count. I finally got AC to count one strep test today (which immediately gave me a score of 100%-- which is weird). Here is all I did: (the sending the test to nurse seems critical)
--order strep test thru orders and SEND to nurse (save but don't send does not seem to cut it) --have nurse respond to strep test by double clicking on the order and sending it back with result and test complete radio button selected. (this sends the result back as a separate msg which drives me crazy but oh well) --sign off the chart remembering to input visit code and test code.

Hi A.J., I did it a slightly different way . I ordered the rapid strep ( did not need to send to nurse ) then prescribed the antibiotic thru the script writer if positive , then on the encounter bill used the code 99213, and the code for strep test completed - rather than the 87880 . This seemed to work . hope this works for you Bala

That is very interesting because I would love to use it without "sending" the order. What code do you use for 'completed strep test'? I thought 87880 was the code to use?

Dear A.J. I used code 3210F( Group A Strep performed) along with 99213. As far as I could tell, the trick seems to be to do your note with a diagnosis code of 462, order RST , on the superbill use 99213 or 99214, 3210F CPT codes , sign the note and then if the RST is positive , to prescribe Amoxicillin or equivalent via the script writer. When I did it in this order AC seemed to pick it up. Tech support told me that that it will be picked up if done in this way . Apparently the prescription for the antibiotic is linked to the performance of the test otherwise it does not count , which is the purpose of this CQM . I am not sure if anything has changed in the newer versions but I used version 6.1.2 hope this helps bala
