OK, so I took the advice of a lot of my friends and hired a NP. Only for Wednesday mornings. But, my MA sends the chart to me 80% of the time. This, obviously, causes problems.
I still need to be active so things can get sent to me. Is there anyway to make my name unusable or does anyone have any tips?

Will you give the NP provider access? We have our MA send charts to groupbox providers. We only have 1 doctor but she likes to have the charts separate from messages and reminders.

A) Give her your password to pull charts from you. B) Have the MA's pull the chart back from the deleted section and reforward it to her. C) Set her up so you can co-sign her charts and you have a chance to review and be comfortable with her practice.

C) Set her up so you can co-sign her charts and you have a chance to review and be comfortable with her practice. All of our passwords are "D" She just is new so she doesn't know how to do it yet. Brianna definitely can do that, but she has to do it every time. Also, her name is Betsy, so she is right by my name. Doing C already. @Serene Good idea, will have to look at that. I imagine she would still send them to me by mistake.

I think you will find that your MA will become used to things very quickly after only a few "retrievals." I've been amazed (pun intended) at how quickly our staff adjusts to changes in workflow. It seems to go MUCH faster if the person making the error has to correct it. Of course, since your NP is only working once a week it'll take longer for your MA. My dh has a NP and I am soooo glad. Thursday (when she takes call) are my new Fridays! Barb Barb

Bert, congratulations on the move. I think you will find that your NP more than carries her weight financially, and more important will unload you.
As I was about to send this, I realized I had not read your post carefully, and this post does not address your question. However, I spent a few minutes writing it, and think it is vaguely clever, so I am not going to waste a potentially prize-winning insight.
We have 2 full time PA's for 2 MD's. Each has a desk in the same office as one of the MD's. They have full provider privileges, and we have a relationship now where they just see patients, and will just lean over and say "Hey, Dave (or beth), what do you think about......" if there is any question. Chart review is kind of organic, when I see some of the patients they have been seeing, and they see some of mine. Otherwise, we no longer do formal chart reviews per se. I really miss them when they are on vacation and ill; I realize I really don't like seeing acute care and walk-ins, and have grown spoiled in having my day nicely regulated. So, I think you will not need to have her forward her charts to you for long.

Hi Dave and Barb,
Thanks for the help.
@Dave, it isn't that she sends them to me, she means to send them to the PA. But like wearing a watch for a year and then no longer wearing it causes you to continue to look at your wrist anyway, she is so used to ALWAYS sending the chart to me, she by instinct sends them to me and not the PA.
