Hey Everyone,
I read something about deleting orders and deletions to help speed up amazing charts? How do I do that? Also is there anything else I can do to make it run faster?
Thanks!

The following is from a previous post by Jon:
Go to View...orders from the main AC page. Select the top order, hit shift and then select the bottom one. Hit the "completed" radio button, then "Update Order". That deletes (actually "completes") the selected orders, at least in V6.09.

Hmm. That just crashed my program. (White screen, "AC not responding"). I wonder why?

Apparently it was too many at once. I can delete 10 at a time without crashing. v6.10 Dave

Whoa! I had been ignoring this string because I don't find the orders helpful and so I don't use them. But AC has been incredibly slow and crashing all the time. I just looked in orders and there were around 35 or so that I had created to see if I wanted to use it. I deleted them and she is sailing smoothly now. Unbelievable.

Find it hard to believe that 35 orders would slow down AC that much. That's scary

I can delete hundreds at a time - it looks like it is frozen, but if you just highlight all of them and then hit reconcile/update it will take a few minutes but get rid of all of them.

If I try to highlight a bunch of orders and click completed, it crashes AC for me (V6.010)

We spent two weeks clicking completed on 15 months worth of orders and it did not change a thing. What did work was using the AC Utility to optimize the database. BAM! Thanks Guardian Angel!

To go back to the original question, these steps will sometimes help speed up AC: 1. Delete old orders as discussed above 2. Run Amazing Utilities as Catherine says 3. Delete old messages from message box (for EACH USER, go to Messages, Deleted Items, and hit "Remove all" 4. If running Updox, restart the "Updox connector".

How often should one run the Amazing Utilities?

I was told "as needed". Every time the server updated or restarted, it potentially slowed down AC and the Utilities would put it back in order and up the speed. It is a nice trick. I also found that updating to the most recent version of AC improved my speed. If none of that works, seek an angel.

I take it back. It still freezes and crashes multiple times a day. I have the latest version. I am getting very frustrated c AC. I am starting to think they are in over their heads.

I am wondering for those with the crashes, when you have updated in the past, did you simply install over the last version or did you uninstall and reinstall?

Bill, do you have version 6.1.2? I have 6.12 installed over the older version. I did not uninstall first. Is that something AC recommends??

Could the others who have issues with this, even with the newer "fixed" versions please report if they installed this way? Bill, could you try reinstalling by uninstalling first and let us know if it fixes this problem?

Jon, I had a problem with computer connection speed to the server, v.6.1.2. I had done a clean install the first time around, but something apparently wasn't installed correctly. B/c after uninstalling and then reinstalling it, it worked fine.

But also to answer your question, I have always been in the habit of uninstall, then do a clean install whenever upgrading to newer versions.
Too bad AC didn't work like Adobe Flashplayer or Acrobat. Those require a download and the upgrade just works. No new install process is needed. A few minutes and they are upgraded. That would go on my wish list for AC: updates that didn't require uninstall then reinstall to make them work properly.
