We have few dermatologists in my location. Therefore I do a great deal of primary dermatological care: punch biopsies, excisions, shave biopsies, ED&C's, and LN2 cryo. I have a templated format for each procedure that makes documentation very simple and extremely quick.
I don't use AC for the billing component, so I can't really comment on the ease of use for modifying the stored CPT codes.
However I enter the ICD-9 codes into my notes, and these are easily modifiable. Find the ICD-9 codes you use the most, edit each one to make it appear in a format that is more readable, and save that change.
For example if you use the button in AC to "search diagnosis code" to find wart, you will probably find nothing unless you search "Other specified viral warts" or search "078.19." however by editing the description for this diagnosis code, you can change it to read "wart" or "common wart." This makes it easier to find on future patients.
