Re: Menu item #2, clinical lab test results.

Most of our results come in via fax thru Updox. I import into AC under Laboratory. These results count in the denominator, but not the numerator. Is there a fix other than not importing the results under Laboratory?

If I go back and edit the item description, say to Other, will that change the denominator?

Thanks.

Jeff

Jeff, to cut to the chase...this is the reason we decided not to go for this menu item for MU.

I suppose we can try to experiment to answer the question of how the wizard counts the numerators and denominators for this item, but this would be a good place for one of our new @AC board participants to chime in to explain how the program does it.

If it counts every item you import into the "laboratory" heading of imported items, then we will NEVER be able to qualify. As a specialist, we often import a number of labs that we didn't order (and which do not come through an interface); you may do the same. So the numerator will always be far smaller than the denominator.

Btw, if you do decide to change the heading in imported items, you might change it to something like "labs; non-interface"; something that will still make it clear to you that these ARE labs (so they don't get overlooked).

Thanks.

I think I'll need to get used to importing under another category. You are correct; most of the labs we get are sent in from other providers.

Jeff, just to be clear; I don't know that changing them to another category will keep them from counting in the denominator (though I expect it will).
