I know this has come up before, but any new ideas on this one . . .
As a consultant, I want my letters to accurately differentiate between the meds the patient came in on (Current Meds) versus those I prescribe.
I enter the patients Current meds (and check off "reconcilliation*) *Before* I prescribe any new meds. When I do, later in the visit, prescribe new meds, they initially remain under "Plan" and are not autotransfered. Yet somehow, when later completing the other fields, (such as using templates for HPI) the prescribed meds are sudenly & automatically copied from PLAN to CURRENT MEDS *before* the letter has been completed and sent, thus mixing them up in the eyes of the referring physician.
Any thoughts on stopping this auto-transfer until AFTER the letter has been signed off and printed ?
Thanks, Bruce Morgenstern, MD (Neurology) Denver, CO

We are using V6.0.10 as well.
I did a quick experiment and noted the autotransfer would occur when filling out HPI with a template, but not with simple dictation into that same field - but it can occur with other manuvers as well.

Yes, I checked also.
It is not "fixed". It looks like you are no longer able to type free text into the Current Meds box.
If you reconcile and then write prescriptions you are OK. But if you write a new prescription and then click on the Current Meds box it updates and includes the newly written prescriptions.
Before you could fix it with free text, but that "fix" seems gone.
It should not work the way it is. It should lock the Current meds when the encounter starts irrespective of when you do your reconciliation.

Im my experience the autotransfer (Prescribed meds" ->"Current Meds" occurs even if you first enter the "Current MEds" then Reconcile, then(later) Prescribe new meds and then use any template in ROS or HPI - again even if the CUrrent meds had been entered first and reconcilled, the newly prescribed meds are autotransferred as "Current Meds" simply by using a template in HPI or ROS (or perhaps othes)

AC does not have a solution yet. I am usually double clicking in current med window and typing as a long sentence that pt is on such and such meds from PCP. You can also make PE tab bigger by ctrl E and then go to medication tab then R click in the box. Then update whatever needed to be done, This thing works if the chart is opened through opening a forwarded chart from message

Anybody????
As a consultant, I absolutely need to keep the patient's original medications (entered in the "Current Rx", field then reconcilled ) separate from the ones I prescribe during my visit whcih are written in "Write Scripts" pop-up window which transfers them to the "Plan" field .
Yet, once these two separate entries are entered in their respective fields, my newly prescribed medications somehow automatically transfer to incorrectly appear in the "current Rx "field as I am filling in other fields such as HPI or ROS - particularly if I use a template.
Does anyone have a solution??
This appears to be buggy software, exacerbated by apathetic support. I am frustrated and sad.
Its just not what I expected . . . .

Hello Dr. Morgenstern,
This issue has been replicated and our development team is working on a fix. The fix will be included in our upcoming 6.2 release. The specific steps you were able to outline above (about using templates) really helped us identify and replicate the issue.
Your feedback is very important to us and we appreciate all your support and your efforts in improving Amazing Charts.
Thank you for your continued support, Craig@AC

Kudos to tech support for picking up the ball and finding a solution.
It is nice to see users and tech support working together to continue to improve AC.

Thank you Craig!!!
I'm feeling a real burst of encouragement from you guys!!
Thank you for your attentiveness!!
(Just to review, you of course understand that when a physician initially composes a letter to another physician (that typically happens before the chart has been signed off ) the newly prescribed meds are different, and need to be kept separate, from those medications which the patient came in on. However, once the chart has been signed off upon, it then is perfectly reasonable to have those newly prescribed meds copied to the "Current Meds" as they now do become part of the patient's current medications.
