I'm one of the people experiencing absolutely horrible problems with slow function of AmazingCharts. As soon as we upgraded, bang, everything slowed down. It was so sudden, I thought it was a virus. No such luck, network is clean as a whistle. Enter a prescription, refill the med, the little circle icon spins 30 seconds to a minute.
I actually went back to hand-writing prescriptions.
It got to the point where I simply cancelled my schedule. Get our computer consultant in the office, because I'm not seeing patients until this is fixed. I closed a day. I'm a solo doc, so I guess I went on strike against myself. Our computer guy added a lot more RAM, and things got somewhat better, at least where I didn't have to close the office......but it's not staying better. Over several weeks, it's slowing right back down. I don't know why.
The bells and whistles, the Meaningless Use stuff, frankly I don't want any of it. I'd just as soon roll back to an earlier version of AC.
.....actually, can that be done?
I've always found the drug interaction checks to be useless, both with AC and with other EMR's I've used over the years. I'd love to turn off the interaction check on AC if it will help.
How do I do it?

There are a couple of ways.
1) Open the Rx writer and in the upper R hand corner is a menu called settings. Open it up and turn off the appropriate boxes
2)On the main page, under E-Prescribing menu, there is also setting.
It is the same box with different ways to get there.
Have you disabled the hardware acceleration as mentioned elsewhere in the forum, search for it if you have not.

Based on what users and tech support have discovered, and now based on what Jon B. has shown us at Tahoe, I think it is worth spreading the word: 1. Disable hardware acceleration and 2. Try disabling drug interaction checking- temporarily, to see if these help.
3. Do NOT invest in new hardware. A fix from AC is coming soon that will resolve the problem. Save your money; there is no need to upgrade your machines.

Jon, This is truly wonderful news for all of those plagued by this problem! And, I am so glad to read Leslie's post about her restored faith in AC. I look forward to hearing about what you are learning at our next Baltimore meeting. I am sorry that I could not join you in Tahoe for fun and "AC bonding". It sounds like it has been a great morale booster.

I'll try the interaction check first.
Hardware acceleration. I'll talk with our computer consultant to make sure I don't screw up the network, but how does one turn off hardware acceleration?
Agree about the hardware, only with the disclaimer that one can never have too much RAM. That was cheap and helped quite a bit.
One thing that intrigued me, though. Adding more RAM helped a lot. But over about three weeks or so, Amazing Charts started slowing down again.
It was fixed, but didn't stay fixed.
I'm bringing up this little quirk, wondering if the tech-savvy among us can read anything into that?

Hi Clam,
I am noticing the same thing. We updated to v6.0.10 about 3 weeks ago, no speed problems initially, but things have been gradually slowing since then.
We went to 6.0.09 in August. That was a disaster initially, a week from hell, but between a new laptop/new graphics cards/turning off hardware acceleration, things got much better. Interestingly, .09 did not seem to slow down with time.

A couple of thoughts on slow downs. Do you have large piles of stuff in "deleted items" on in the inbox of an imaginary employee? Clearing those out helps some slow issues.
"Norman" (sorry Dr. Wolfe but your bit was way to funny to let go) brought up another temporary fix, just lower the resolution on your computer for the time being.
Tahoe was awesome.

HAHAHA! Norman, (er Wolfe), You were a great asset to the gathering! And, yes, Tahoe was terrific!

I'd like to look at "deleted items", but things are getting worse, and now I can't open AC at all. This is turning into a complete disaster. I wish I'd never upgraded the software.
Is AC management truly aware how bad this is?

I question what is going on - although my prescription writing is slow but I have never gotten any of these other issues and people are generally not complaining that AC won't run - you need to go to AmazingCharts.com and hit help me now, ping them and get them on and explain that it is unusable they should be able to log onto your main computer and look at it. Do this now.

Clam, AC is very much aware of the severity of the slowing problem and is aggressively working to fix it at the highest levels. The repair should be coming soon. On the other hand, I agree with Steven; with all of the problems that have been reported, I have not heard of anyone who cannot even start the program. Something else may be going on. I would definitely recommend that you follow his advice. Please let us know the outcome.

Sorry, I've been away.
JBS - ".....I have not heard of anyone who cannot even start the program...."
No, it runs, I'm sorry if I'm not clear. It's like DocGene's observation:
DocGene - "......I am noticing the same thing. We updated to v6.0.10 about 3 weeks ago, no speed problems initially, but things have been gradually slowing since then......"
Slowing, slowing, slowing. I'm intrigued how it appears to gradually slow down.
I'm intrigued by the pattern, and not sure where it's coming from. I'm perfectly willing to consider the possibility that it's a system/server problem. I have a professional set-up and maintain the system, but they're like doctors, what the hell do they know?

It is NOT a system/server problem.
This is all fixed in 6.1.1

I have been intrigued by the gradual slowdown. My observation seems to be like DocGene.
Intuitively, I'd have thought switching to the new version, the speed change would have been instantaneous. In fact, what I seem to have noticed is a gradual slowing, every day a little worse.
I mean, I don't know how to quantify it, just my subjective observation.
Is there any significance to this?
