How do you enter patient data when you have 3 patients that all have the same name and the same date of birth. I am running AC alone with X-Link and when I do the shift F12 I recieve the error of (there are 3 patients with the name ----- and DOB. Please update patient manually. What does this mean?

Do they also have the same middle initial? If so, are you sure they aren't the same person?

If you find you have duplicate charts for the same patient you can merge the charts. This feature is available by opening the chart you wish to merge into another chart. Then from file on the demographics page choose the merge option. This will merge this charts information into another chart and make this chart inactive. Once the chart is inactive make a change to either the first name or the last name to keep the import from X-Link from seeing it as a match. I usually would suggest something added in front of the first name like IA for inactive or DUP for duplicate. If you have duplicate charts the matching for import will not know which record to update.
