I spoke too soon. Out of about 28 erxs today, 7 are "queued". No pattern, several different pharmacies.
All of yesterdays went through.

There is now a yellow box alert when one logs into amazing charts that this is a surescripts issue, not an amazing charts issue. This is affecting many EMR's.
I would suggest to the programmers that in future versions if there are multiple timeouts in one session (say like 5 or more) , that the program be smart enough to say "We seem to be having a connectivity problem with electronic prescribing and interaction checking, do you wish to turn off this feature for this session? [I will submit this as a suggestion]

Did the scripts queued yesterday go through with the other scripts this morning?
Here is what we heard yesterday afternoon from NewCrop - the company that acts as our connection to Surescripts and keeps the interaction databases up to date:
---- We have been notified that Wal-Mart pharmacies are currently experiencing technical issues. Some messages to Wal-Mart are remaining queued for over 30 minutes. Wal-Mart technicians are working to correct the issue. ----
...[C]onnectivity issues with Walmart is causing delays all over our network, as well.
We are aware that the Wal-Mart issue is taking a toll on the entire network. We are discussing methods we can put in place to ensure that if a large chain, such as Wal-Mart, is offline, that the network will be minimally impacted.
---- Surescripts is currently experiencing intermittent connectivity issues in the PRODUCTION environment. The issue is impacting a significant volume of Prescription Routing to Community Pharmacies (NEWRX, REFRES, and REFREQ) via the VA network. Surescripts network and application engineers are working to resolve the issue.
This has resulted in long queue times for prescription transmission. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see the network functioning normally soon. We are in contact with Surescripts and RelayHealth to confirm this is resolved rapidly.
-----
More information will be posted here as we get it, but I am curious if the those that were queued got sent automatically.
Thanks, Jon
P.S. Sorry we didn't post this earlier. We're working on being more proactive and posting faster to the board as issues are recognized.

Great, seems to be back and working. We'll update if the problem recurs or there is more (interesting) information learned today.

Things were zipping right along earlier this morning, Nov 9, 2011. Interaction checking and electronic prescription were taking just a few seconds.
But now as of 11am central time, I'm getting timeout errors again. Maybe WalMart is down and this is crashing Surescripts again. This obviously is a serious problem for Surescripts. Just imagine if Bank of America's ATM's went down and this caused the whole ATM system to malfunction nationwide. #OccupySurescripts

You know what, I am almost to the point of telling them to "have at it". Primary care would fit right in to their discounted product motif. And, if things continue as they are, importing PCPs from China will be right down their alley as well. Leslie (who just started MU this week )
