This is going to be a long post-I apologize in advance and will try to be as clear as possible.
We have our patients bring their meds and we compare med lists every time. Now, just how to get credit for it is the question.

We have found the screen that says reconcile medications. Do we have to click on each med in the list and hit save with the reconciliation box checked to make it work?

The interpretation by AC seems to be only on transferring into practice. The CMS site doesn't limit it to new patients. Is this an optional one or one that we have to do. If we do-how?

I do the same thing that you do. Now instead of doing so in the prescription writer section, I do it by double clicking on the medication box in the lower left corner. If you click on the medication and and then check the medication reconciliation box in that screen, then you will get credit for mu. Go in and do it and then go to the meaningful use box in the upper right above vs inside the patient's chart and you will see that it says OK in green once you do this during any encounter. If you don't do it, it is a red dash I think. I know it is red anyway.
This is also the best place to add and delete drug that were stopped or started by someone else since your last visit with the patient.
I think that might for you?

I gives you credit if you only click on one medication as long as you click the box. You can tell in each encounter what you are getting credit for.

Thanks for responding.
I tried that and thought it might be too good to be true. We have been trying to do it the way you suggested. I did check the reconciliation box and save, but the credit doesn't show up on the report. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Maybe I just didn't know where to look. I am finding it recorded now.
