Hi Jon,

We all (& you included) know how the Medicare Incentive $ (Substantial) is structured & we need to provide 3 months of Data to qualify for the meaningful use $. I understand the Beta form of V6.10 update is ready for download & may have some bugs to be worked out.

Can you & your staff please take a leadership role in guiding us thru this haze ? Because everybody is looking for answers about this new animal in the room, like blind leading the blind. This way Amazing Charts will also be ready, able & willing to go this extra mile to help us get these Medicare $.

Some other EMRs are professing & helping their struggling users go thru this difficult transition. The reimbursements are going down, & we do not see many other opportunities like these incentives come by & we are cutting too close to get ready for this 3 month data collection deadline for 2011.

Sorry for my rant Jon, plain & simple make AC ready & easy for this, show your staff & assistants its importance, its high priority & the time bound nature for getting these dollars for 2011.

Thanks in advance.

I have talked with some of the people at AC - some have attested and received their money already using AC version 6. Mine is attested and locked for payment.

The MU Wizard on AC is fairly self explanatory - if you begin by going into Admin Options - Miscellaneous preferences - set AUTOMATICALLY OPEN RISK FACTORS. That will force you to set diagnoses, risk factors, etc for setting up Health Maintenance.

Next go into SET HEALTH MAINTENANCE, THEN SET PREFERENCES. From there choose how you want rules about immunizations, etc applied to patients.

This will allow you to use the Decision Support in a patient visit to find out HM due - start filling them out - many will jog you to discuss things like diet, etxercise, weight management, etc. It will make you ask for eye exams, do foot exams, etc.

Back at the visit you will notice and what I do is always discuss weight, diet and exercise - then I add the following to all visits -

V65.41 - exercise discussion
V65.3 - dietary surveillance

These codes will help with some of your MU on weight, diet, exercise, etc.

Decide you are going to always quickly review summary sheet to inactivate any old diagnoses, meds, etc - remove inaccurate ones, etc. Then when you print your visit summary (could develop a template about pt. education, websites, etc) you can choose CCD and print also (I set to 2 sided printing to reduce volume). That will be MU point.

Once you do these for a while they become second nature - I found the HM forces me to look at dates - make sure they are up to date and is helping get pt. to do things that they have put off.

You also need to set up and use electronic prescribing as well getting a lab interface if available - check and get them motivated.

Steven,

I attested and am waiting to hear back. What does it mean when you say "locked for payment". Is there a way to find out the status of payment once attestation has been completed?

on the website when you registered and attested - if you check the status it will say locked for payment.

Yes Bert, I will probably email it to Jon, once I research his email.

Another problem, one of those LUCKY (not) days for me today. When I was downloading the Version 6.10, the one which could enable me to start documenting the FED requirements, the Computer FROZE, multiple restarts, running Malware bytes & Quick System Care does not do anything, it keeps freezing every time.

I tried to transfer the AC & its Data to another Office Computer for the time being, till I could figure out what is wrong with our main computer, ....no luck.

I chatted with Tech Support for help, no luck - I need to make an appointment to transfer the AC from one computer to another computer & they do not have anyone to speak with me now, & no other suggestions.

We limped big time work wise today & I have a full load of patients on Monday.

I am seeking for any ideas, anyone..... PLEASE HELP !!!!

With regards

RAj - We have our hands full dealing with clients who got bit by the power outage right now, but we will be doing maintenance throughout the weekend, and so I can help you remotely if you have a backup of your database.

If you don't have any external backups - I would contact AC support if you backup remotely with them, and get them to setup a dropbox [or similar] with the latest encrypted backup that they have of yours.

If neither of those are options, then you have three other choices in order of preference ->>
1)attempt to repair windows - be careful to not let it format your drive
2)Boot from a thumb drive or CD, and grab a backup off the drive
3)Pull the raw drive and use drive recovery tools to find and copy off a backup of your database

If you need help send me a PM.

A) OK Jon's email is no secret. Just his name at amazingcharts.com. I am not actually writing this down to discourage bots pulling the email address.

B)While 6.1.0 is certified, 6.0.9 is also and is the official release.

C)Did you do the download from your main machine? You should not use it as a workstation.
Do you have backups going outside of your AC folder, this is very easy to set up (in advance) and then just use one of those to get it up and running.
If you only back up to the main machine and it crashes, you are in trouble. (Indy has some good advice)

D) in the pre-SQL versions, you could just move the folder. With V5 and V6, you must do a full install AC into another computer, then create a fake database (just to get it going, when it asks for provider and office info I just fill boxes with random letters), then do a restore from a saved backup.

The moral is that you cannot have enough backups. I take one copy home every week on an encrypted thumb drive. I actually update my home machine about once a month just to know the backups will work (and have a more current version of the info at home, despite LogMeIn and remote desktop)

Be cautious, when you use this technique, you must first install the same version of AC that created the backup (.enc) file. That is, you can't use a version 5.029-created backup to restore a new version 6 installation.

OK, I have several suggestions, but they are based on limited data. I am not quite sure what you are describing.

First, this is an I told you so moment. Always back up the .enc file nightly, and ALWAYS automatically back up the entire compute nightly. OK, done with that.

If I understand correctly, you had 6.0.9 on this computer and it was working fine. You then tried to download 6.0.10, and the computer froze over and over. My first question: So, it was just the download. It could have been downloading Registry Cleaner. Had nothing to do with AC?

So, now you can't use that computer due to this freezing no matter what you do?

So, this brings up several options or ideas:

Does the computer just freeze even if you don't use it? If so can you get to the information from another computer? Can you take a computer and use a crossover cable and connect directly to the bad computer's database?

Can you do a system restore on the computer? It sounds like the download corrupted a driver.

Boot into Safe Mode with networking. With only the basic drivers, it will be less likely to crash, and unneeded services such as SQL Server\AmazingCharts would most likely be turned off.

Can you do a system restore from the Safe Mode entry prompt? When you boot into Safe Mode, you get a chance to retore (No) or continue (Yes).

If you can get to the data via Safe Mode, you can make a backup of the data (it's still possible). Back it up locally and to another external site. Then you would be golden.

If not, use the Amazing Utilities to Detach and Move the databases to another location on the computer and then copy and paste them to a flash drive or another computer. If you feel more comfortable, you can just detach them and copy them so that a copy stays with the program. If you aren't atached to the SQL Server engine due to the service being off, you can just move them anyway.

There is no way to know if it is the hard drive causing the crashes, but we do know that data is on the hard drive, so if all else fails, remove the drive and put it into another computer.

If it is only that the computer is constantly freezing/crashing, a local computer shop should be able to bench it and see what s casing the freezes. It could be as simple as a video card or as bad as a processor or motherboard. But, they have more tools to tell.

If you are really desperate, then acquring the informtion directly from SQL using SQL Server Management Studio may be an option. The hard part would be the remoting into the computer as it freezes. If you go this router, I would once again, use my SQL Expert who is the only one I know that could do it. Obviously, there are thousands, but this guy is good. But, I know you won't, because nobody does. smile

If you have System Restore, I would start there. And, if you can't even get to it, you can access it via Safe Mode.

Steven,
Regarding your post on this thread on 9/8:
You suggested: Under Admin Options - Miscellaneous preferences - set AUTOMATICALLY OPEN RISK FACTORS.
I did this and then when I opened a chart little "blue wheel" keeps spinning. I'm able to enter info on the chart. The Risk Factors window doesn't open.
Any suggestions?

Hi Bert, Wendell, Indy & John,

Thanks everybody for your help, I do have Carbonite a online backup service, if it comes to that. I did a system restore yesterday afternoon & was back in business with my main computer.

I was lucky to find Timothy from Guardian Angel Tech Support last evening & we downloaded V6.10 again on the main & also all the Client.

Regards
