I upgraded to 6.09 2 weeks ago and it's been pretty uneventful except when typing additional instructions in the plan section. After ordering a test, or prescribing something, I may scroll down to the bottom of the plan section and begin to type something in. The first letter will be exactly where I want it, but the rest of the text will have jumped up into the upper part of the plan section. It will even jump to the middle of a sentence. What's up? 4-5 month old server and work stations with 8gb ram and dual core processors. Windows server 2008, wired network.
Thanks,
Tom.....yes I know I have big fingers, but it really isn't the problem.

Just now, while charting in the room, my entire physical exam disappeared when I hit return, in order to start a new paragraph. I'm getting ready to call the witch doctor...I got some VooDoo going on.

Buy a new keyboard or try a different one.

On two of my machines, adding to the end of the plan section, the first character ("-") for me since I like point form registers, and the next character and beyond often jumps to the beginning of the section about one third of time. Cannot actively reproduce it, does nto seem to depend on what characters I am typing. Did try switching one keyboard. Happens on LogMeIn as well.

THe jumping cursor happens to our office as well. Just in the plan section. Two providers, two different machines?

I have the jumping cursor on all 4 computers I use (Win XP and Win7) with 5.1.7 and noticed it also on 5.0.29. This happens only in plan section. It seems to happen when a word or phrase is highlighted and deleted. Then when you type in the correction, cursor is at the beginning of the para. Also happens with spell check corrections.

Shot in the dark, but make sure your wireless keyboards aren't on the same frequency as the room next door. This happened to us once and took forever to figure out.

My keyboards are wired. The behavior is specific to the Plan section. Does not seem to depend on if I highlighted or deleted, but always on initial input into that section - never subsequent input in same session in same section. Only I experience it, no one else in office reported same. I have Windows 7 Ultimate on one, and XP Pro SP3 on other.

Bert,
I'm a country doc! What do you mean wireless keyboards???!!! It is a good point, but I don't have them...I'm too cheap.
How in the world did you figure out that the wireless keyboard in the next room was causing the problem?
I can live with the jumpy cursor for a little while, but losing data entered above the jumping cursor; that I don't like.

Wired keyboards. Yuk!
Well, Tom, once we figured it out, we had a great time with the kids. I would tell them it was a magic mouse pointer. I would go Abracadabra, go LEFT! And, the person in the other room would move her mouse left. It really was spooky.

Maybe it was interference, but I never got either Logitech nor Microsoft wireless keyboards to work consistently. So I am wired for keyboard, wireless for mouse. For the same reason, my exam room computer is wired, as wireless LAN occasionally dropped connections no matter what protocol or channel I used.

Yeah, I think wired keyboards and wireless mouse make sense. And, it is simple to pick one out. Logitech only makes...what...250 mice now.
I love going through the algorithm to find the right mouse and, therefore, the correct driver. I actually think it is the same driver for all of them.

I usually only have a jumping cursor problem in the afternoon and I thought it was just finger fatigue but I have often wondered if it was ac. Seems to always happen to me in the afternoon when I type a t. Drives me crazy.

Since these things have to be reproducible, it would be helpful to download the free Camedia, which will allow you video it on your screen. This file could then be sent to AC support.
