Is there a way to remove the names of former employees from the drop down list?

Have you deactivated the user from the Administrative Options?

I don't think they can be removed from the drop down list. I would love to find out I am wrong but I have been unsuccessful even when they are inactivated. I vaguely remember asking tech and they told me to live with it. That was a few versions ago.

When providers are inactivated, they disappear from our drop down list to sign in to AC, the list of message recipients, etc. When they do not, something is amiss.

Yes, Jon is correct. One is doing something wrong if they are staying in the drop down lists.
Just for the fun of it, log in as administrator, e.g. At the login screen rather than log in as you and then go to administrative, log in directly as Admin. It will take you to the admin section only. It has, in the past, performed tasks that you could not do in the regular admin screen.

Is there a way for the admin to change the assigned username in AC? Im sure someone knows how this can be done... It wont let you change it through the admin login when reviewing each "user"....???...the username field doesnt appear editable...
Thanks Riz

No you cannot do that. If someone wants a new name, they will have to open an entirely new account. Inactivating the old account will keep it from showing up anywhere else.
Everything in AC is tied to that user name. So, if you send 100 messages to that user and they quit, you must have a way to reactivate them to get the messages, etc.
Same with the user name.

Thank you Bert. Thats consistent with what we observed. Is there anyway to merge an old user name with a new one?

Unfortunately not for the same reason. It would be nice if each username were assigned a userid which was connected to all of the data in that person's name. Then you could change it to your heart's content. Trust me, we hate seeing all the names there, especially ones we no longer like.

There is one way you possibly could do it.
First, any provider that has appointments schedule under his/her name would be dangerous to change.
Depending on how badly the user wants to change their name, I "think" it could be done this way.
Whether or not you deactivate or activate a previous user, their user name will be greyed out.
What you "possibly" could do would be to do this with your existing user who wants to change their user name without going to court.
You could log in under their name. In the inbox area at the top, check every section and see if there are any current messages, etc. for that person. Deal with them so that the entire message area is blank. There may be more things that are associated with that user, but I can't think of any. I will leave that up to you.
You could then deactivate that user. Then create a different user with the new user name.
To simplify the idea of this process, you can deactivate any user (except those on the schedule) and open a new user account.
To be completed, if a user is deactivated, this doesn't mean that messages, etc. sent by them to an activated user can't be opened, you just have to be cognizant that there may be 75 messages in his or her inbox that you may not think about.
