When my nurses try to send info to AC from Updox, they get a warning "set your user ID in the admin - manage users menu to enable send to EMR". Sounds easy enough, but I can't find where that is an option, either on AC or Updox. Any help?
I can connect myself, but if I log in on my computer that is already connected under their user name, it will not work and I get the above message. I have to do this for each user?

I think you are correct. I recall when I set this up, each of the 3 users has to use the EMR link to set up import to AC connection under their AC user name.
If this won't work, phone into Updox and leave a message about your question. I have generally received a call back from Tobin or Charlie within a half hour.
Alan, welcome aboard. I don't use updox, but you might want to do a search about updox on the site to see why people like it. There is a lot of discussion about updox and alternatives, pros and cons already here.
What fax management software would you recommend. This is NOT meant to put you on the spot but rather to find out if there is something new that we were not aware.
There are a bunch of alternatives and many in use by the folks here. We are always looking for a better way to skin a cat.

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them
I was wondering about this. Instead of paying these companies an annuity, isnt there a fairly inexpensive and easy to use fax modem/softare that will internet fax? Even if its $100, its a one-time fee.
Wayne New York, NY Hey, look! A Bandwagon! Let's jump on!
Updox not only receives and sends faxes as eDocuments, but allows the documents to be electronically annotated or filled out, and saves a copy into a standard or custom folder in AC. All with a single mouse click.
There is a free 15 day trial, if you are interested.
It also allows you to lose a fax line which costs around $40/mo. If you try it out and think you have something better and cheaper, I, for one, am all ears. I do think Updox is expensive. I pay about $75/mo. So it is costing me around $35/mo after subtracting the cost of the faxline and I am a one doc office. If I could find something as functional for even the cost of a year of updox, I would be interested.

In Updox, under Admin, go to "manage users". Select each user, in turn, and enter their "EMR [AC] User ID". You must do this for each user. If users are going to take documents and put them into Updox, the program needs to know that user's AC password to do so.
I have always said that answering this question is the toughest part of marketing for the Updox people. When I started with AC, I couldn't comprehend what the advantage of the program was. I decided to spend a couple of months without it first so that I could see what the "baseline" was, and then try it out. I spent a few months with Paperport. I used Leslie's system, which is pretty ingenious and useful. Plenty of people swear by it. Then I came out of the wilderness and tried Updox. I liked it; my staff BEGGED me to keep it. I keep thinking that we should start a thread entitled "What does Updox do?". I will do that soon. John, Indy, Bill, and other Updox fans...be thinking of your answers to this question so that we can jointly (once and for all) put together a list of what this program does and why we think it is worth the money. Not to be mysterious about it (we have all posted part of the picture) but there is no single short answer.
Jon, I agree. Updox is well worth it. We went through a similar trials of the different systems. Just scanning, paperport, and updox.
Using updox pretty much all of 2011 and there is no way we can not go backwards. We use almost all of the features and eventually will get there with the rest. The interesting thing is that are finding new ways to use updox that we never though could be possible.
Just one example: During Home or NH visits, I just snap a pic with my Iphone of anything that I need to record then email it to an updox email address. It is then easily imported to the chart.
So my written NH note, med lists, insurance cards, ID cards, wounds, rashes, or the AC patient ID picture are easily put into the chart with a "Photo Copy".
I've taken pics with my iphone and then downloaded them to my work laptop but never thought about emailing the pic to Updox. That's an easier way to do it.
Just wanted to update, I did figure out I was simply overlooking the pull down box. Thanks for everyone's help. I've overall loved Updox (this was my first week using it), although I used by allotted 1,000 pages in 1 week! Guess I'll have to upgrade my plan with them. Thanks again.
