I would check out the SpeechWare 2 in 1 table microphone, has the highest rating from Nuance (Dragon) for accuracy & noise cancellation. Not really handheld, but not a headset either. I am presently using a Dictaphone PowerMike II, and the 2 in 1 that I tried as a demo was absolutely superior.

SpeechWare is coming out with a 3 in 1 (has an integrated USB soundcard) next month, so I'm waiting for that.

But what ...."portables, handhelds" is everyone happiest with and where in AC do you download the notes to, to make an encounter?

Dr_Miles,
I've been using the SpeechWare 2 in 1 table mike for over a year and it works flawlessly. Previously I struggled with a Revo xTag for two years, but the lack of accuracy and frequent "quirks" made it a pain to work with. I voice-dictate and voice-command 99% of my notes. I am now only slightly slower than the old dictate and transcribe pre-EMR method. If you figure in eliminating transcription costs, it's about a wash. With Dragon, simply mouse-click in the Amazing Charts box and begin dictating. No need to use Dragonpad or cut and paste. The table mike allows me to sit comfortably at my desk and have both hands free. I'm usually about 20 inches from the mike with no reception problems.

Thanks for the feedback to date ! Speech mike seems to be a desk top item. I am really intersted in the "portable handheld" unit one might use in a nursing home and bring back to enter into AC. Any thoughts or opinions ......Thanks !

Miles
