Our office loves the UPDOX patient portal. Can AC open up the schedule to UPDOX so that we can have on-line scheduling through our UPDOX portal/website? It would eliminate the need to have yet another separate scheduling program. Anyone else agree?

Seems reasonable. Don't know how easy that would be to integrate the two as AC's scheduler is pretty simple.

Since AC is so busy with versions 6 and 7 out, who knows when they will have time to deal with the schedule? I just thought that since Updox already has the portal, why not link the schedule to same portal? This way, Updox can focus on portal/schedule while AC can focus on ONC and PM issues.

I don't believe updox offers that. I think their facility lets someone request a date and time . But I dont have updox so i'm not sure.

I spoke to Updox at the ACUC. They are prepared to offer this service but AC would need to give them access to the schedule.

They could offer the service, and just allow you to xport a csv file for import. Thats how appointment quest works. Sounds like you want something where if they schedule an appt.on updox, it will automatically show up in ACs schedule. Which would be nice.

Exactly! Eliminate import/export. Consolidate the number of companies I have to deal with!

Updox is quite willing to work on this but they need to get access to the schedule from AC. Since Updox already provides a practice website and patient portal, I think it would be great if the schedule was connected to the practice website. We all realize that AC is busy getting us MU and PM. I am hoping they can push the scheduling part to Updox, so that the development goes more quickly.

Well, if they give Updox the access, it will be an Updox application that Updox will develop, so AC wont' have to divert resources. At least not initially.

I really wish to have updox online scheduling function, and I have asked updox regarding this functionality and got reply that it was asked for, AC yet did not allow access to the scheduling information in the AC database. I wish AC will allow this soon unless AC may add its own online scheduling function soon.

Updox could consider an alternate implementation and do it like AppointmentQuest. You would have to download the schedule, but at least you could do it. AC would have to provide some interfacing on their part so that you can import the .cvs file into the scheduler (the file from AQ is a .cvs file...opens up in MS Excel).

AppointmentQuest already exists so I am not sure why Updox would duplicate that service. I, personally, do not want to deal with multiple vendors and frequent downloads to get scheduling access for the patients. I think that the patient portal we already have through Updox would be a perfect fit to add a scheduling option. My patients are getting quite adept at the portal to send referral requests and receive test results. This makes sense as the next step.
I am hoping that AC is open to this. It would be a great addition to the EHR and great for the marketing dept!

AppointmentQuest already exists so I am not sure why Updox would duplicate that service. ! For the same reasons other companies duplicate services or products that someone else has already made...there is a market for it appropriate for them. AppointmentQuest does one thing. This service through Updox, for starters, would allow someone contracted with Updox to have this service and only pay one vendor. They may also design it with different features. This is one of the many things us marketing types sit around and figure out for businesses.
