This problem was solved, but just want to post it for others. Initially, one of the tech said that it is a glitch in version 5, that should be fixed with v 6. She said that you'd simply change the time of the BU daily, which didn't work. If you reboot daily, it does work.
However, another tech tweak around with the system. Basically, he set the computer hard drive to stay on permanently, no sleep mode, no hibernation mode, and set the power setting to maximum resource and high performance. Since then, automatic back up works daily.
Needless to say, I still reboot the system every other day or so.....
