Today I was messing around in the administrative section and read that I had 1 unused license...Does this mean when I renew I will only need to renew 1 license since I am only using 1 license and nothing has changed?

I don't know why you have two liceses to begin with. If you only need one, buy one. If you only needed one to begin with, talk to AC and see if you can you use the second (unused license) as your new license.

Thanks Bert... I was told I needed a license for myself and my collaborating MD... I guess maybe I just needed a license for him? I also wanted E Rx etc and so I was told I had to purchase two of them as well... sounded a little fishy but I did.. Can't afford to make that costly mistake when I renew later this month!

Talked with AC today...had to buy 2 licenses-- one for me and one for MD that co-signs charts... I can see this... however, now I have to pay for support for myself and the MD... The MD will never call the support line, never E prescribe on the system, he does not even have a copy of AC on his computer! (Accesses via log me in just long enough to make 2 mouse clicks to sign off charts) This is a little excessive... kind of like having to pay for a license for someone who fills in one day a month... I agree AC is much more reasonably priced than other EMR but come on!!??

Practice Fusion is looking better and better...

Got lucky and have a credit card on file with expiration date of 2015....so I got lucky... Am glad cause Practice Fusion seemed a lot more labor intensive and a much less superior product than AC...I have to give props all the customer service agents with AC they were very attentive and helpful with all questions...

Chet, Hang in there. You could always print up a statement that your collaborating doc reviewed your records and then scan that into AC. It sounds like collaborating is kinda like overseeing, or Cosigning? If not, ignore this completely.

Chet,
As you pointed out, AC is very fairly priced, and short of a free product like PF, you can't get an EMR for anything close to this price. So if they tell you "two licenses and two supports", then you are still doing well. On the other hand, Jon B. and the company have a reputation for being generous and fair about this stuff. I would call or send an email to convey the relevant facts and ask for help. You are talking about one person seeing patients, one person doing notes, one person signing notes, one version of the program, and one e-prescriber. You have paid for two licenses; maybe they will give you a deal and allow one annual support.

Yes, I agree. Actually, I don't see how having a credit card on file relates to this other than keeping the price you were paying the same.

Thanks for the replies... I did talk with Sandy in the billing department and she was extremely helpful... The credit card on file only relates in that it is a bit of a reprieve in that due to old billing price vs. new billing price I will be getting the 2 licenses I need for the price of one since the price has gone up.. this is a big savings for a rural, cash only clinic.. Tom you are exactly right and that might be a good option or I could put a template at the end of each note saying "Case discussed and agree with assessment and plan-- signed Dr. XYZ"

I did explain that to her, Jon, and unfortunately did not even get a nibble! They said anyone authorized to sign chart had to have license... but like you say, barring free inferior products, you cannot touch another EMR for the price... I would venture to say that paper charts would probably cost about the same when you get down to it!
