We've run into a problem when trying to eRx things like a Medrol Dose Pak (pack) or Lidex cream. The system says that a pack (or pak) is not a valid unit of measure. But that's what we want to prescribe--1 pack. Also, Lidex Cream is dispensed in 15 gram, 30 gram and 60 gram tubes. But the eRx system won't accept grams as a valid unit. Nor will it accept "tube".
How do the rest of you handle cases like this?

I am assuming you are using the later edition of 5 or using 6. I "thought" it was supposed to take care of those things. But, I think the pharmacist will figure out 15, 30 or 60 and put in grams.
Or you can write it in the message, although it tends to stay there.

In version 6 I choose medrol dosepak 4 mg tablet as the codified med and then you can put 1 as qty (suppose they should know pack) or 21 as the qty (which is the number of pills) and hit send. I have done both ways and the pharmacy figured it out. I guess the issue is which is right - I would guess you really should put 21 as the qty since the codified med is tablets (not the whole pack).

Thanks. I'm using 5.029. What we finally did was put it 60 for the Lidex cream and 1 for the Medrol pak. The pharmacy hasn't called yet, so I guess they did indeed figure it out.
