Just curious. If I have a low-end computer, could I easily and quickly improve its performance with AC by sticking in a flash drive and using "ReadyBoost?" Sure, adding more ram may be better, but would this ReadyBoost be a kind of "quick hit?"

I would definitely add more RAM rather than use the ReadyBoost.

sure, i'd just never heard of RB. seems like a temporary "quicky" to help out till you have the patience to upgrade ram.

I have an ASUS laptop that has RB, and I keep an 8 GIG SD card in it. The most notable performance differences are battery usage (I can get 8 hours or better on a single charge), wake from sleep speed, and it can make a real difference when I am tinkering with large data-sets and I setup the DB and the DB cache on the SD card

Fun to hammer the DB without the disk even spinning up.

ok, its obvious why that setup is faster. eliminated all the disc access & seek times.

Readyboost is good for any 32 bit machine even those with 4G of RAM. The advantage is faster access for the page file.

For 64-bit machines one is better off just getting more RAM.
