I would like to talk to someone using EZ claims with AC. We have been trying it for a few months, and find that it is easier to use EZ claims as a stand alone program rather than integrating it in with AC. Exporting the AC data to a file and then importing it into EZ claims ends up being more cumbersome, unless I am missing something here.
Thanks

I've been using EZ claims for the last 3 years and I do export billing information from AC(simple text file) and then import it to EZ claims using Import-Export Wizard. This doesn't really take much time. I do billing on my own and usually only export one day at the time to make sure that all information goes through. You can use EZ claims as the stand alone program but then you have to key in all this info.

Why doesn't AC interface with Office Ally? I'm asking this because, well, they are nearly FREE (cost: $50 per year- no other software or ongoing charges), and they do a really really do a good job. The interface with MS Office programs is a fairly easy thing to set up- you simply have to interface the appropriate fields with the OA MS Excel file ( http://www.box.net/shared/oo2ujvy7yn ) which then is uploaded to their site on a daily basis.

When I do it at my office it really is a 1-click affair from my EMR (data goes from MS Access-> MS Excel .XLS file-> MS Excel TXT file), then 6 clicks on the OA site to upload.

The only problem I could see with AC is that you need some practice management fields, but once that comes out, it could be a big money saver for everyone.

Al, do you mean "Practice Mate" or do you mean the Office Ally clearinghouse. For the latter, AC already does. I export our files daily, and submit them via Office Ally.

As for Practice Mate, Office Ally may be placing roadblocks against it. They now are marketing their own EMR.

They have some strange thinking there. For instance, if you have submitted claims through the clearing house, or even manually input claims, you cannot transfer that data over to PracticeMate to begin using their PM system. They seem to not want to input any outside data from another system. Even their own.

I also find it pretty painless to upload claims to Office Ally. just really 1 click to export the files, and then a very few to upload a days claims to Office Ally.

Practice Mate seemed like a great deal, but I already had a PMS with my EMR, which I've been using for 20 years. I had to go through several folks in their tech support, most of who told me to print an HICF form into a txt format, which doesn't really work. One guy finally suggested the Excel route, which worked flawlessly. I still get to use what I've used before while getting electronic billing. It all remains a 1-write system.

Electronic billing is a must in my neck of the woods (Washington, DC area) since most of the insurance companies, including Medicare, aren't very honest and will throw away HICF remittances. I lost over $200000.00 over several years in this manner.

Too bad about Office Mate- I thought that their PMS and even their EMR would be probably as good as their clearinghouse. I guess not! It's pretty nice not to get nickle-and-dimed to death while just trying to bill an insurance company.
