Hi chock Here is how my day goes with AC - Version V 5.0.29 I have a Server ( which has AC) which acts as my Main computer. My MA's have Desktop computers that act as workstations to access AC fro my Server. The MA who runs the floor & rooms patients in has a Laptop which she takes in the patients room - does the chief complaints, vital signs & forwards the CHART to me in my INBOX. I go into the patients room examine the patient, take any additional history I need, send electronic prescriptions while in the room & either complete & sign the chart in the exam room (10% of the time)or FORWARD it to my inbox for completion at a later time. All messages received by phone or fax are dealt with by the MA's if my input is not needed or sent to my MAILBOX if my input is needed.Messages appear as(Patient: XYZ), CHARTs for completion appear as CHART: Patient XYZ withoput the brackets(). Most of my messages are dealt with inbetween patients or any time I get to reply the message. The uncompleted charts are completed whenever I have a break during the workday or completed at the end of the day.(90%). AC keeps the DATE & the TIME the patient was first signed in by the MA. You may alter the date & time if you wish by the ALTER DATE BUTTON above the PHYSICAL EXAM button If you decide to handle messages or complete the charts the next day or whichever day you - the MESAGES & the CHARTS are still in your INBOX until you decide to DELETE them. All my faxes come in as PDF files & I use Adobe Acrobat professional to fill out any forms & electronically sign them & fax them. Any prescription refills sent to my inbox by my MA that needed to be refilled at local pharmacies - I send them a message back using the AC messaging . If prescriptions need refilled for faxing to long term pharmacies - I fill the script & use the PRINT PREVIEW button & save it to my MA's folder as a PDF file for her to fax it later. To make a long story short when I log into AC on my Laptop I see either 1. Messages as (Patient XYZ) or 2. Patient charts as CHART:Patient XYZ. So I am having a hard understanding where is the confusion. Help me understand where you are encountering a problem Grenville

I think I am going to be posing a lot of questions, natural in someone new to the program. All help from anyone and everyone is appreciated. Actually, I would disagree. While I understand your need as a new user to ask a lot of questions. And, that is fine especially with different parts of the program and the small details. But, I think you would do much better on this question if you asked no more questions and just learned by trial and error. I think you have all you need with the comments on here. You started out by asking about charts in your inbox and getting them under control. Some of us posted with help. Then you main concern was work flow, how to pull a chart, from where, how to forward it and sign it off, etc. Your last post has morphed into how to work with imported items. This thread is going around and around on three or four subjects with each person offering different ways to do it. I don't think you will do this, but my strong suggestion would be to write one more post saying, "Thanks everyone, I am going to go practice, I will let you know how it turns out. Work on one thing. Pick something you learned and work on it. If you learn golf, one person teaches you to use a fade, another a draw. So before you ask about pitches and putting, you should go out and try to hit a 7 iron with a fade. Then work on hitting a 7 iron with a draw. Find out which one works best for you and use it over and over. Then go to your teaching pro the next week, and say "I am going to hit a fade. How do I hit it into the wind?" You don't go the golf course and ask how do I hit a fade, how do I hit a draw, oh and if I hit a draw past the green do I chip it or do I putt it on the green. Once I putt it do I want it below the hole or above? This golf course should have all flat greens. That would work better for me. Someone told me to hit a long driver. I am NOT poking fun at you. I am saying make a chart called Fred Flintstone and make charts. Sign charts. Save charts. Delete charts. Pretend you are with a patient. Sign them off at the same time you are "seeing the patient," or forward them to your inbox. JUST LEARN BY TRIAL AND ERROR using some of the info here. If I went and charted using everything on here, AC would explode. Does that make sense?

Dear everyone who has been in this discussion:
Per Bert's advice, I am going to stop asking questions for a while now and take a break from this. I will keep watching for any further responses in this thread.
Thanks to all of you.

Thanks Chock. I hope my post wasn't too harsh. I reread it, and I thought it could have been taken that way.
I just thought you were getting so much good, yet conflicting advice, that it was time to step back and incorporate some of the ideas into your work flow.
If you need any help, just PM.

Bert,
I just wanted to reassure you that I did not take your advice the wrong way.
At the same time, I want to let you know that I had to stop working with AC but may be able to come back at a later time. Since then I have been trying several other programs with no final decision yet. It was interesting to note that "Forwarding the chart" to an Inbox - an important feature of Ac, may be unique to AC.
I will be watching from the side line.
Thanks to you and everyone.

Well, we will miss you on the board. I am glad that you got back to me and reassured me it wasn't I. If you are looking for another EMR, I always tell people to at least look at Praxis. It's pretty cool.
