I sure hope 6.0 comes soon. I've plowed through the EHR Incentive Program online application, been approved, applied for my state (Oklahoma) Medicaid EHR incentive approval, and have been told, in essence, "we have a fat check waiting for you, but you need to prove you are using AC 6.0 first."
And gee, the press release sure makes it sound like it's already out there making life remunerative for us all.

5.17 is not even out of beta yet. Think the plan is to skip straight to 6?

That is exactly the plan David.
Many users don't want to go through the hassle of upgrading until a solid version is out. I have made the decision to do that also.

Every time there is a beta, there is the possibility that it will be the release if there are very few bugs reported. I believe that 5.1.7 will be the official release of the v5.
I think the plan it (emphasis on "think") is for 6.0 to be ready or nearly ready by ACUC, which would be June. Given that many will want others to take the leap first, it may be a good idea to go with 5.1.7.

I am on 5.1.7 right now, but I had reported some issues that were fixed into the version 6 as well so I am eager to try it out.
Anyone have the online site for getting approved status for the incentive program. not like i will get more then a few cents as i have less then 15 total medicare patients but oh well.
Thanks!

Anyone know of if in the next versions, if they will make it so you can specify which office you saw that patient in?

When will v6 be ready for download? I've been told that we have to have that before we can do the Attestation portion of Meaningful Use.

I really do not think it will be ready until at least mid-may or beginning of June.

Yikes! Our consultant thought it was going to happen in April! People are anxious to be able to attest when the govt's portal is ready in TN on or before March 31st. Providers are worried that the govt is going to run out of incentive money before everyone who is qualified gets their's.

The last things I remember were some hope of getting it out end of December, then maybe end January. We have not really heard any words since. I made business and staffing plans accordingly. Is it really going to be that long? If so I have to change my plans.

I think with any release it always is gonna be later then projected. I think as they find bugs in the older versions they try to definitely fix them before releasing the next version. Which only makes sense. I know that they are avidly fixing a bunch of the bugs and issues right now. i just reported another one today that the escalated to the fix state.

I do not understand why we have not heard from the AC team on a target date for Version 6.0 This constant speculation when when it will be ready, is dragging down the optimism which has been one of the selling points of Amazing Charts. If it will be ready in June then say so. Kmowing is better than not knowing. Whats the big secret? How about some communication from Jon and his team ! Arthur Lukoff

There is no big secret. A lot of companies do not meet deadlines on big applications. It has been rumored to possibly come out around end of May beginning of June, but even that is a best guess. I am not part of his team, but this is what I know. It is not a big secret. I have posted this before.

Bert, I appreciate your "updates" about this, and I assume others feel the same way. On the other hand, the lack of any sort of official notice from AC is disappointing. Jon B. said "it will be ready by January 1". A press release weeks ago says "we are certified for meaningful use". We all know that those release dates are notoriously unreliable (with AC and much bigger companies). Still, I agree with Arthur that it is harder to maintain enthusiasm within the AC community, let alone "selling" the product to our colleagues when there is NO word from the company about a release date. It is one thing to say "a very reliable user on the forum" says June; it is quite another to have an official word from AC.

Jon, I agree with you. After watching a couple of EMRs develop over the last few years,I waited to purchase AC until it seemed sure that it was going to achieve certification. I want to fully commit to this program and never have to make a change. After the public announcement came out regarding certification, I thought that it would be ready for use shortly thereafter. I am disappointed that we are not using it yet. I have registered and am ready to attest once the 3 month clock runs.

I just completed a survey that asked me if I knew that version 6 would be released this quarter. This may be the answer to the question we have all asked. I do pray God speed to all those folks working hard to continue the good job they have done thus far in bringing to the little guy an afforable EMR. I am sure they will come through as they have in the past.

I am rather naive about this. Is 6.0 pure meaningful use or is the PM component part of it. Don't shoot me, I am only the messenger.

It's just meaningful use with some updates to the reports sections and some final fine details (like smoking) to achieve all the required fields.
PM is another module down the line.

@George, so it sounds like you got the Survey Monkey survey.
Since this is March 9, is this quarter by March 31? I would have to think so.

Hmmmmm.... It used to be that the whole point of 6.0 was practice management. Is that going to turn into something like fusion power; the technology of the future and always will be?
If Ketan is just starting beta testing Monday, what is the hope it will make it to full release bu summer? 5.1x is still in beta after several months.

I can tell you that I was offered and agreed to install a Beta V6.0 in my office this Friday. I hope I don't hurt myself by doing so. Wish me well. I will let you know what I think.

Due to certification requirements they had to change the name of the meaningful use version from 5.2 to 6 - they are still going to finish the PM. It was just how things were numbered per Jon.

I guess that is why I am confused about the end of May early June release for PM as that is what Jon has been talking about. @Jack Not sure if there is a list. But, if it makes you feel any better, I have never been offered an alpha or beta. I think it's because I am a novice.

Here is an update on where Amazing Charts is with regards to Practice Management and Meaningful Use:
Our Practice Management module is (mostly) on track for beta release in the first quarter of 2011. .... The delay is due to new Federal requirements for EHRs, specifically the requirment that EHRs be ONC-ATCB (aka Meaningful Use) Certified. That is from Dr. Bertman's last post on the subject, back in November. So that means beta on PM and Meaningful Use by 3/31, right?

In find it weird to come out and say "this quarter" when you are in "that quarter." There are only 21 days left. May as well have said, will be out by the end of the month.
I am so sick of the Federal crap. I wish they had never come up with this stimulation money. Don't get me wrong, if you get it, it is significant, but we all bought a great EMR that was heading uphill fast, and all this CCHITT ONC ATCB alphabet soup has derailed it. Not Jon's fault, but still.

I am really grateful that I am not hoping for any stimulus money, thereby leaving me free to concentrate only on those features that are useful. At this stage of my life, my freedom is worth every penny.

Ironically, there are only a few testers, and they found a big bug in guess where? Imported Items. I brought up your closed folders thing (or was that just John) and it had a lot of discussion and irony. Plus, I told everyone you were brilliant. This was during the ACUC planning committee.
