I am not sure how medicare knows if we are using a authoriized
EMR program and how they are getting this information.
Is AC going to be the software submitting this report or are we going to add the rx code to our billing software?
Is vesion 6.0 going to have this capability?
It's almost March and I am not sure which way to go. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

A Certified EHR will have an "EHR Certification Number", which is entered when the "Eligible Provider" (ie - you and me) registers (see Step 6).

My suggestion is to have patience, there will be plenty of info from early adopters on this board and elsewhere as soon as version 6 comes out. You have until the last quarter in 2012 to demonstrate Meaningful Use, and still collect the full $44,000. Until then why not start collecting some Medicare loot by using the present version of AC to qualify for the 1% 2011 eRx incentive, and maybe do one of the PQRS incentives ?

]Thank you,John for your reply. It clears up my confusion . I was not sure I should be coding G8553 in my notes in AC or in my stand alone billing program.
I would think the version 6 would have have the mechanism to report G8553, but to be sure I am including it in my notes when I e-prescribe in AC and also when I sent out a bill in my stand alone billing program.
