I've been having a problem with AC ever since v3: It makes the assumption that every patient is an adult, with their own contact information of a limited variety: home, work, email and 1 cell. In my pediatric practice, I had been using some of the miscellaneous fields to keep track of dad's work, cell, email. But more and more--I'm sorry to say--I need numbers and addresses for dad's house, mom's new husband, the nanny, two sets of grandparents who sometimes pick the kid up from school, and the cell number and email for this child (the patient)her/his self. In V5, as far as I can tell, even with all these miscellaneous fields fully used, there is simply no way to print them out. When I 'print demographics' I get the usual fields, one emergency contact, and full insurance information. That's fine for my billing company but not when there's a crisis and I need to have ALL the numbers with me while I'm driving to the hospital.

This is occasionally serious, and I once had to call 911 back after spending time locating which address a child was at, after being told in a panic that "he's at his dad's house."

For a couple of patients who shuttle between households, I have had to make a simple text contact sheet and save it to Imported Items. Surely somebody must have a workaround for this?! Could there be a free-text area on the Demographic page? Even so, my phone allows multiple phone and fax numbers, emails, and addresses for a single contact, each tagged and labled. I have 2 families who live at one address but get their mail somewhere else. Of course I adjust my mailing list manually. But can't AC keep all the patient's demographic information in one place the way a paper chart could?

I agree! What I do is use phreesia check in pads. that way they can put in all the info the need and i always have a pdf file attached to the chart that i can go to. That is a work around.

You should P.M. Bert on this topic if he does not address it on the post forum. If you are not aware, he is a pediatrician and faces the exact issue as you.

To clarify in your post, you are not USING v3 correct? You have noted this problem since the release of v3 and in the editions since v3?

It has always been a problem and there is no great solution. Yes, the miscellaneous fields will give you more space to add other information, but in our world of alternate care givers, this is often not enough.

You have 5 tabs in miscellansous,
You can also use the alerts tabs to add some information.
I have done notes with a header stating additional contact information and then put see additional contact note in the yellow popup box. All are work arounds and I know of no other way.

If I am not mistaken, Bert uses the miscellaneous boxes, he stated at some point, but I will let him chime in on this.

In a similar vein, I find I write a lot of Plans at the end of a visit which give parents information , drug instructions, that they were transmitted , etc, but The paragraph always starts with Dear.. the patients name, say.... "Billy". where "Billy" is a 8 year old kid. It should default to the parents names Mr. or Mrs Smith, or Smith Family.

If the patient is less than 16 YO , I think it should default to the parents in the Report generator for the instructional plans.
