1- I would love to be able to select the printer instead of having the sole "Print to default printer" option when I sign off on a note or when I'm printing a prescription. I use Updox. So I am constantly having to go into my Windows Printers setup to change my default printer if I need to print something in hard copy instead of sending to Updox.
2- I would REALLY love it if there is a way to save a partial note to a chart without signing off on it, instead of having to send the chart to someone as the only way to save. And even with the latter option the notes are only saved in that instance of he chart.

I am confused. I don't know were Updox comes into play, but I don't know of anywhere in AC where you can't choose your printer. Certainly, in printing a note or a script, you have the option of selecting a printer and not being forced to "Print to default printer."
As to number two you can send partial notes as many times as you want with CTRL + S. Also, at the bottom right just above Sign, you can select forward chart and just forward it to yourself. Either way, the partial note ends up in your Inbox.

Bert When you sign off on a note, the options are - Print all - Preview - Print to default printer There's no print function that will give you the option to select your printer. You can only go to Print Preview and from there select a printer. When you write a prescription, the options are: - Preview - Print to default printer. Again, the only way to select a printer is to go to preview first.
As to saving the notes, the problem with sending charts to someone's inbox, including me, is that if someone else wanted to add something to a partial note, then I will have to send them that chart from my inbox first. Otherwise there will be 2 instances of the chart. What I would like to be able to do is to write something, save the note without signing it. Then have the chart available for the nurse to add something else to the same note without signing it, and then save it again, etc.

I guess I don't see the big deal. But, it is one more click.

If you want a partial note, either write a note off the front page or an addendum. If you want an unsaved note control S will save or forward to the other person. You just have to keep track of whether it is time to sign or forward back.
It is one extra click to go to preview, but it can be easily done. It is certainly easier than changing the default printer.
I agree with Bert, I don't really see a problem, but I have adapted to doing it this way a long time ago so everyone is somewhat different.

I guess I don't see the big deal. But, it is one more click. Actually, just think that instead of Preview Print it said "Select Printer". Same clicks, just a different way of looking at the options. The only other way would be to have all of the possible printers listed and you could select them with one click. But sometimes there are so many different printers attached to a computer you would be lost in the list. The functionality is the same, it just combines preview and select printer into one choice:^) Greg
