Awesome! I was going to offer to remote in, but I would have never thought of the Dymo software. That's good to know.

Bert is there an FAP for V5? I have it uploaded, says connected to SQL but no patients coming up I am thinking this is a V4 vs V5 issue.

I had the same issue with my Dymo Printer initially - once the right driver was installed it works great. We use it daily for letters to patients, labeling lab specimens, etc - I think every office should buy a dymo printer and hit up Bert for the software - it is invaluable.

Yeah, Amazing Labels is rather simple compared with FAP, V4 works with V5. Not sure why, after you connect to SQL from the software, you wouldn't see your patients. You should. I would have to remote in for that one.

I think every office should buy a dymo printer and hit up Bert for the software - it is invaluable. You know, I will never understand it. One person came on here about six months ago and said "I have a DYMO printer and am trying to print chart labels...." I couldn't even get her to reply to my IM.

Bert,
1) Is your Amazing Labels 8.0.0.2 compatible with both AC versions 5 and 6? With version 6 coming out, should I wait for the conversion to install Amazing Labels?
2) I found DYMO LABELWRITER 450 Label Printer on Amazon for $91, DYMO LabelWriter 330 Label Printer for $35, and Dymo LabelWriter 400 Label Printer for $179. Do I have to get the 400?
Thanks.

Wait a minute. Bert, you have a program that you wrote that will let us print labels on a Dymo writer? So we could print the entire labs directly from Amazing charts?
What I mean is, we can make a lab order in AC, print it out and print out a lable for the specimens too. And just send it it to the labs?

Because you can probably get Quest to give you a Dymo label if you have a lab interface with them.

Hi Wayne,
What it does is interface with AC's demographics. Then it uses Dymo's print driver. So after your print a requisition, you simply find the patient in Amazing Labels, select the source. It automatically fills in the patient, DOB and DOS and TOS. If the patient has to take the specimen home, you click a check box so the DOS and time are left blank.
You can select 1 label or 100, although I don't know why you would want 100 CBCs. Maybe because out lab ususally loses 99 of them.

Jack, I don't know because I have always used the 400 and 400 turbo. But, my guess is it would work with all of them. But, you have nothing to lose as the program is freeware and automtically updated.
So far, it has always been compatible with the SQL versions. If not, then my developer would likely make it compatible.
Since I have been using it (six years), it has cut my error rate down from ~ 7% to below 1% partly due to legibility.
But, I guess it would make it difficult to know which one to buy.

Jack,
I would wait on v6. I have been informed by Steven that it isn't seeing the demographics. Likely an easy fix.

Well, if we had the SDK or API or the code, we could do incredible things. But, I don't think Ed likes using SDKs.

I have been using the Amazing Labels software with v6 without any issues. Same goes for VIPER and F.A.P. But, I am not even starting with F.A.P.
VIPER, though, is download and go. A. L. is easier than any of them.

I will vouch for Amazing Labels - everyone should invest in a Dymo Labeler and get Amazing Labels. It works fine with 6.0.8, 6.0.9, 6.0.10, etc - I had mine offline for a while when I changed server, but I figured out that the bonehead IT person (yours truly) had forgot to reset the server name for AC database and once I did that it worked fine....unfortunately had suffered for a couple of months before had time to find this.
I also think that everyone who gets and likes the program should send Bert some regional treat - I think as I recall I sent him Oysters from Washington.

I have a Dymo printer, and would love for it to interface with AC (we now enter all addresses one at a time as needed). I did look at Amazing Labels previously, but don't think I understood how to set it up. Bert, do you have instructions for us newbies?

Thanks. I have been holding off starting that process because Bert said AL8 did not work with AC6, Now that it works, I am ready to roll! The front staff will be so happy!

Maybe I don't know any better, but I like the orders pretty much the way they are. There are a few glitches... having to select the recipient before clicking the orders and the inability to build up orders as you proceed through the encounter and then sending at the end to name a couple.... but it is slick to have the vaccines and procedures all ordered up and sent to the nurses and waiting when I walk out of the room. Our primary complaint with the orders is simply that it does not put the AC PID number on the orders. We print the orders out by our Quest PC for the MAs to process labs....and then they have to go to another PC just to get that number so that the "bridge" will grab the demographics. They have all the other demographics on there...why can't they just add this?

LOL. There is one post on lab orders out of about 50, and it gets quoted. Enough to hijack the whole thread. Can we get back to printing labels again? I guess I should completely blame myself for resurrecting a post from several months ago. I should have started a new thread.

Wayne, This thread would probably be the best thread to post your comments in. A lot more people will see it there than buried here.

Or, I can always remote into your computer and set it up for you, which may be quicker. You would want to have the latest Dymo software installed as well.

Thanks, Bert. I'll check on the Dymo software, I have never updated it. No hurry, whenever you get a chance to do instructions, I'll try it. And, if not successful, I will take you up on your kind offer.

Bert, Thank you! Your instructions look great. I am looking forward to trying it. I wondered if you might want to post your instructions on your website with the software, and then it would always be available to new users.
And, I am so glad the bat episode is behind you. Last night, here in Baltimore, there was another report that 188 bats had been removed from homes this summer, and 12 were rabid. The theory was that the strange weather this summer is driving the bats indoors.
Thanks for all of your efforts in helping users on the board.

Wow, that is wild about the bats. Our patients give us about one bat story a day.
I am sure you will be able to get A.L. up and running. I will ask Ed about the instructions and his site. It is his site, so he would have to upload it.

@Steven,
Didn't even see your post. Thanks for the kudos. Yes, your oysters were great.
Everyone should know I don't charge for this at all. I just call it a perpetual beta even though it is a full release.
