My understanding is DropBox won't upload a file until the file lock is released. So I don't expect you would get a working copy on your remote computer. But, I think it would be helpful if wwpp gave more information as to the logistics of and why he would want to use Dropbox. First, I use Dropbox and the last time I checked it wasn't HIPAA compliant.
