Is there a way to input the insurance data at some central point like with the ICD codes?

A great idea. Be nice for us to pick insurance company demographics from a list to be dowloaded into AC. That way the information is correct.
By the way, what central point are you inputing the ICD from??? I can't find a portal to edit irrelevant ICD-9 codes from the database?

To imput the ICD codes and the corresponding fees you can go to the administrative options: down at the bottom you will see the ICD tab. What I haven't found is how to print that out to look at hard copy.

Roy:
Are you suggesting we should have a database of insurance providers that we can enter payors into, and access from the demographics page?
From what I have learned about database design, this would make sense, since a payor's information is shared between numerous patients, and if the payor's phone or address changes, you would like the updated information to be shared between all patients who use that payor.
I wonder if it could be set up where you could enter the payor's information into the "insurer" field on the demographic page, then right-click on it and save it as a template, like you do in the progress note. Then, when you have a new patient, you could right click again and insert that info.
Can templates be set up where they insert data into several adjacent entry fields with a single click, or must they only insert into one at a time?

Very interesting. In the administration option, what is the little check box that says "common code" (or whatever it says)? It appears you can specify certain codes as being common and then search among the common codes. What determines which one gets checked? Must that be done manually, or do they get checked as you use them frequently (I am obviously a new user of the program). If you check something as being "common", does that specification get lost when the ICD9 list gets updated? Brian,
If you erroneously enter the wrong information for the insurance, you will have to clear all of the entries that is incorrect to get rid of the choices of insurance. It would make sense to have one insurance linked to address and phone number, etc. so that once the data is entered correctly, there is less chances for making new errors.
And I see you found the "common code" box. It's a nice square box that you can check (it'll keep you occupied) and uncheck.
The "common code" box does nothing. It remains checked but does not prioritize or have any other function. It's tempting for me to say that this is the magic button (but that would be too cruel a joke to pull). I know! Like an idiot, I went through the list and checked the boxes to my heart's delight (when I should have been charting)... to find out the common code box is a box and only a box.

Dr. Jay, It's quite laborious to input the fee schedule one code at a time. It really doesn't do much (like the boxes--see message above) unless you are billing through Amazingcharts.
I believe when you say ICD code, you are referring to the CPT code. I haven't been able to bill by ICD-9 code.

Roy/Elvis: That's what I thought you were saying. You are right. I have been editing my old billing database (from four years of solo practice), cutting out all of the corrupt data that I don't want to import into my Amazing Charts database. What do I find? There's probably only about 40 - 50 individual payors, but the contact information has been entered every which way. It would be better if information for each payor occupied a central location and could be edited directly. Well, it is nice square box with a lot of potential, in my opinion. Thanks for the "heads up". BC And I see you found the "common code" box. It's a nice square box that you can check (it'll keep you occupied) and uncheck.

When the front desk adds an insurance in demographics and the info is entered incorrectly, it is duplicated over and over increasing opportunity for errors. How can I delete these?

When the front desk enters any data field incorrectly, it persists as a choice until all such incorrect data is manually erased and corrected.
I suspect there is a back door way of correcting the data but it requires access to a blocked database which we users are not privy to use.
