how would I block out a week for a vacation so that no pts are booked for that time period

The best way is to go to the Admin section, then open the Scheduler button. Click the Block/Unblock tab, select yourself, then click Clock a Whole Day for each day of the week you will be absent.

Alternatively, you may select you name on the scheduler (so you get the detailed view), then click the column furthest left for the first time slot for the day, hold SHIFT, then click furthest left column on the last time slot for the day. The "All Providers" button in the upper left will change to "Block".

I know that there has been an error in the past which would not let you unblock once you do this - I actually have a pt. named DAY OFF and I schedule appts in the block - that way if plans change I can easily delete these. Just a thought.
