If you click to inactivate a drug, you can't cancel out.

The button to cancel is there but pressing it still inactivates the drug.

Wow. Never noticed that. I guess because I always inactivated the drug. 90% of the time, I don't write anything so, while it is a good idea, I wish I could get rid of it.

Maybe make it so it pops up, but you can ignore it, and if you hit enter or something. Be better if, when you click on the inactivate button, it just inactivated, and when you right-clicked you get the window. Or the right-click could give you a) inactivate and b) inactivate and give reason.

But, you are right. There are four ways to close that box, and all four of them do not allow you to change your mind.

I think we should also have the option to "delete: a drug in the event of an error, to enter an allergy as a reason for inactivation, and also the option to remove multiple drugs at a time or inactivate them in one pass, and not just one at a time.
Lastly, I would like a "time-out" function that automatically inactivates a drug if a time period is entered in the sig: like " 1 tab BID x 10 days" , so that common short term rx's don't keep accumulating, requiring deletion.

Right click on the med and select remove.

>>to enter an allergy as a reason for inactivation<<

I am confused on this one. You can add an allergy in the inactivation reason window. Do you mean in the actual allergy box? Why couldn't you? Can you elaborate on this one.

This is a great idea. I think it would be helpful if this were the case. Since it probably will never happen, on the bright side, I tend not to look at the patient's past visit history, but I ALWAYS clean up their meds, so when I see antibiotics there (which is probably the number culprit for us), I look to see if they had a recent OM or something.

Bert, This is brilliant! I was looking for a button, I was not aware that you could right click and a menu would drop down with that option.

In order to inactivate as an allergic reaction, 1st you have to inactivate w/ a reason, ie: allergy, but that does not automatically generate an allergy entry, one would have to select the allergy box on top of the page and then additionally ad the allergy entry there to be correct. It would be better as a one-step process.
