Wondering if anyone has made the transition to 64bit? We recently added our first Win7 64-bit computer. Machine runs great, except AC inexplicably crashes about once an hour (no pattern on function being used, and often with no one even at the machine). Tech support says its the machine, but no other software has any problem. We "repaired" AC, uninstalled/reinstalled, same problem. No real error message given, just that the program has stopped working. Originally, it was a Win7 64bit Home Premium. Did an upgrade to Win7 64bit Professional, without any effect. Concerned because all the new machines available are 64-bit.

We are running Win 7 pro 64 bit on our computers and AC is no problem. Our Midmark EKG is however an issue as it does not support 64 bit. Neither did our old scanner. So luckily we can still use one of our older computers for the EKG and we found a scanner on sale.

The Welch Allyn EKG has the same issue. Does not work of with 64 bit.

Does it have to be on that particular computer?

Neo, he says AC works fine. It is his Welch-Allyn EKG machine that doesn't.

NeoMatrix 1217...if you are responding about Win7/64bit and AC, the answer is it just quits. Simple error message "Amazing Charts has stopped working and will be closed." Sometimes when doing something in AC, sometimes with no one near the machine. Last week, we replaced the first machine with a brand new Win7/64bit computer - - same thing. So . . . I'm doing some testing to see if somehow its network related. (no other visible network problems, though).

You asked where AC was installing. The answer is C:\Program Files (x86)\Amazing Charts\.
In the interim, we replaced the problem computer with another, new, Win7 64Bit Home Premium computer. The problems continue.
I checked Event Viewer. Our poor MA endured crashes every 45 minutes to an hour on this machine. Here is what it reported for all but one crash:
Faulting application name: Amazing Charts.exe, version: 5.0.0.29, time stamp: 0x4c16f684 Faulting module name: mfc90u.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x488f1605 Exception code: 0xc0000005
The one exception was: Faulting application name: Amazing Charts.exe, version: 5.0.0.29, time stamp: 0x4c16f684 Faulting module name: PlusCore.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4a434010 Exception code: 0xc0000005
We have one other Win7 64 bit machine in the office (the rest are Vista or XP). It has never hiccuped.
Tried having Windows run it in "compatability mode" (Windows detected it as a Vista Service pack 2 compatible program.) No luck.
We've "repaired" AC, uninstalled/reinstalled. No luck.
Stumped.

A couple of things Steve, Especially if you have an extra copy of WIN7 around that you can play with a little. Because some of the solutions may be more for 32-bit OS, although I was able to fix some issues with VSS on SBS 2008 x64 with the same. I have fixed at least three installs using the registering of .dlls. http://www.amazingcharts.com/help/support_faq.htmNone of yours are specifically mentioned, but there are quite a few batch files that may solve the problem. Set a system restore point each time. The other thing, and I am sure you are installing as an admin by the right click method. I know you are already past the install. I would definitely look at the dll registering given they are showing up in your error messages. SEE MY LAST COMMENT FIRST.

Are you using DocuCom PDF by chance?
For instance, do you have PaperPort on the machine?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815065This could help. Also, is UAC on, what A/V are you running? What happens when you completely DISABLE the antivirus program?

I also need more information if possible.
Is the main computer the only one that is 64-bit or all of them? If you have other 64-bit computers running AC as a client without SQL, are they working?
Is someone using the main computer?
Is 5.0.29 the only version you have used with these computers? If so, have you used a lower version such as 5.0.28?

Steve,
If you are really frustrated, and none of the ideas above work, and you REALLY want to solve the problem, then PM me, and I will give you an extremely good tip. It's not that I don't want to share it here, because it isn't really helpful to anyone.
I have recommended this to at least 15 users on here, and no one to my knowledge has ever taken my advice. I can almost guarantee you, you will get your answer.

That was one of the longer runs of Bert sending a message and then doing the next .... if spyro had not cut in it would have been 5 in a row.

It was pretty good. That's one. And, no comments on the time.
It's just that these AC applications have a tendency to update and unregister these .dlls.

Another crazy suggestion. Are you using the same installer everytime? Have you tried downloading a different installer.
Not sure if the dlls are already screwed up or not. Not even promising that is it.

That is true - Paul's posts were long. We will have to watch and see how many in a row you post without any intervening posts. We can call it BERT WATCH.......
