I currently in the 3 month trial period of amazing charts and would like feedback regarding billing software--I plan on having an offsight billing service in my hometown(las Vegas) my biller does not currently own any of the billing software that are partners with AC--I would like a simple, affordable, software which is easy to implement and use by an offsight biller and office staff.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,

I can tell you my experience. I have used Medisoft v6.12 (circa 1997) for nearly 10 years without a hitch. I think I bought it for $79. I used the export of textfile and sent it directly to OfficeAlly which converted the file to HIPPA compliance. It was then sent to the insurers without a fee!!!

Then, due to the NPI reporting standards being initiated, I panicked and bought the hype generated by software company and bought a new license to Medisoft v11. I couldn't upgrade as they stated it's been too long a time period. So bought v11, only to be told I must upgrade to v12 to keep a valid NPI reporting requirement (some fields were changed, I guess).

It's the worst decision I have made. Medisoft (PerSe, in AZ) would not convert the old database to the new format. Instead, technical support stated that the database was "corrupt." There was nothing wrong with the database. The company is the one that is corrupt. I found out later that others have ran into the same situation. Your financial database is held hostage until you fork over $400 to correct this "corrupt database." You know, when your starving, you'll eat anything, even if it is rotten. So we caved into this new demand for money. It still shows error messages that is hobbling the billing/posting process. I'm now "Waiting for Godot" (or a billing software that would treat us fairly). Yes, it is like waiting for the second coming (don't know when, where or how!).

Also, Per Se's technical support waiting time was a record 190 minutes (averages 90 minutes on hold). I paid my biller to stay on the phone. I do feel wronged and the way I was treated by Per Se and I continue to lose sleep thinking about this. I wonder if others have experienced this as well.

Let me know if you (or anyone out there is AC land) has found a billing software that is AFFORDABLE, HONEST, with GOOD SUPPORT, treats doctors FAIRLY, and allows you to use the data/program without the software company having the capability of shutting off your program from off-site.

Thanks.

Roy,
Your reply is appreciated, I have spoken with a representative at AC who told me if I were to go with medisoft I would also need their network connection, which increases the cost significantly. I am hoping to hear better news about some of the other companies.

I have a new practice that began in March. I initially billed directly online with health plans and held onto my medicare. I purchased Medisoft v12 with PerSe and even went with their claims manager to help scrub claims and insurance verification. What a terrible mistake. Roy's complaints are not unfounded, I can back everything up in regards to the absolute lack of support. We finally decided to keep the software and go with WebMD for clearing house/claims scrubber... They have been so great and very easy to get a hold of and deal with.

AGKO,
Do you have a support person/team with Medisoft v12? I would like to fix up all the "error messages" that pop up (which I hear disappears only after your bank account is emptied out). It would be interesting if Dateline posed as a solo-physicians to see how physicians are being fleeced in this software/IT market.

I would recommend EZclaim advance for inexpensive and easy to learn. Interface works for most things. There are some problems with it but use a good Clearninghouse to upload claims to insurance companies. We use Navicure.
