It seems to be a little confusing where to file documents for patient seen in the hospital on AC. I mean H&P Consult notes I dictate, or other physican who have seen the patients at the same hospitalization. There is no enough heading for these document to be imported to from the scanner. Is it possible to make it as an addendum and to code it. if yes how to do it. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

You can import the hospital papers under any heading, such as "batch import". Once imported you can click on them and edit the heading to your liking

OK. So, how do you do that. I have left clicked on the Batch folder and right clicked on the batch folder and still the same old folder. Of course, I am nowhere near the Imported Item guru. I would say I am a newbie.

If you right click on an imported item it will bring up the ability to edit information - you can then change the heading, etc. You can use predefined heading or type in your own.

Thanks for the feedback. I got it now. I thought you can not change the list of headings predefined by AC. Now I can add History form, hospital admision and so forth. That bring another question which if you admit a patient and have H&P that you can import to AC can you code it for billing as such or you make an addendum to attached to the patient chart? if so how would you do it?

You can import the hospital papers under any heading, such as "batch import". Once imported you can click on them and edit the heading to your liking As usual, Leslie has the answer on how to handle this. On the other hand, to me this is an aspect of AC's imported items that is in serious need of improvement. The issue is that it takes a few clicks to change each heading, AND the change only holds for that one patient. So you have to redo the process over and over. The program needs to allow for the ability to establish more folders. Updox somehow lets you use a few more headings for imports, so clearly this is something that CAN be done. At the ACUC, during the Updox talk, Jon said "we recognize the need to fix this". Eternal optimist that I am, I believed him.

That bring another question which if you admit a patient and have H&P that you can import to AC can you code it for billing as such or you make an addendum to attached to the patient chart? There are several ways to handle coding/billing for inpatients, but if you import the file I don't think you can bill it directly. If you want to code as you import the file, I would do the import then go to the patient list. Right click on the name, and "add chart addendum". Title the addendum "inpatient h and p" (or whatever). No need to have any text in the addendum. Click yes to "generate superbill for addendum" and do the coding/bill.
