I just upgraded to V5 and am now updating the allergies to "Codify" them. It would be nice if all of my patients with allergies listed as "None" (or other variations) could be changed to the official "No Known Allergies" without my having to remove NONE and then click the NKA box. It works well when codifying the medications to do a global change, allergies would be nice

I agree it is a bit of a pain - you can leave them uncoded it just won't check for you. I find that if I do it when a pt. is here for a visit - it takes usually less than 30 seconds and I am able to clarify, add or delete allergies as I verify them with the pt - it then puts time and date that I updated them and done by me. That helps with coding/billing as something I did, I then codify meds which helps verify with the pt. that they are indeed taking them or if they have stopped, added or changed how they are taking them.
All of this can be accomplished when you see a pt. very rapidly and you can easily send refills right then to the pharmacy of their choice.

My MA is reviewing the medication and allergy list before she brings the patient to the room, it slows us down just a little to do the "codify" step. If I see the patient before this has been done, it is not very time consuming and ceratinly worth it on the back end...I love the e-prescribe on V 5.0.24

It would be nice if "None" in the allergies could be converted in all of the charts at once instead of having to enter each one individually as I see the patients. It may be my own OCD but fixing this on each chart adds just that little bit extra to slow me down. i am sure there are others with similar allergies such as NKA or NKDA that need to be codified.

I thought that once too, but now feel that the extra effort makes the chart reflect "VERIFIED BY ________" and this is much better when reviewed or brought up in court as "VERIFIED/UPDATED BY ADMIN". I feel it also helps to show that you, the provider did that when they are asking you what part of the chart you reviewed - unfortunately it is too easy to not update anything and have every chart just have the same text from one visit to the next.
I actually would love to have a box next to each box in AC screen that you could check and it would add to the chart "VERIFIED BY ______" on what date which would help show that you reviewed each box.
