I am disappointed there was no improvement in the import process for AC. I find it much easier to browse for a file and then import it than to get everything positioned so I can drag it. But then you can't free type in the item type box and you have to choose one of the extremely limited preloaded options very few of which I use then go back and edit it. At least, I would like to be able to choose my own category types just like we do for tracked items. This seems very basic to me and I can't believe we have come this far without that feature. I would consider this aspect of AC to be one of its major weaknesses and I hope this will be addressed soon. Thanks.

The import process is also a common cause of AC crashing. Not better than version 4 either, unfortunately.

I import mucho; never had a crash. I have never tried the drag-n-drop method of import.

I use the sign off screen...very rarely crashes. Using the drag and drop method, will crash more frequently. Lots of crashes trying to assign imported items to folders and editing the title also.

Well, perhaps the problem is the way I am doing it and not AC. Here is what I do. Please let me know if there is a better way:
outline the relevant patient. open up imported items. click on "import new". Import from the scanner or import file. Choose "other" under item type. name the item under item subject. Import Items. Then in the pt's imported item box. Find the file I just imported. Right click and edit. then rename the item type to a category that is meaningful e.g. Labs, consult letters, old office notes, etc.
This seems like more steps than should be necessary. Is there a better way? Thanks.

I am anxious to hear responses to this. As I learn about AC, I repeatedly feel "there must be a better way" as we do some of the simple processes that are repeated hundreds of times (like this one). We import the same way and it seems like a lot of steps. The only (small) improvement I can suggest is that once you highlight the patient, "F9" takes you to the import page.

Item type can be changed but it will required just another step. After you import the item you click edit and there you can change the name of the item type folder. I found this one day by accident.

Still wish for nested folders. Becomes cumbersome after years of importing. Wish I could drag and drop OUT of AC. I've been consolidating historic results into single PDF files but sure is time consuming with combining, deleting, etc... Wish I could default folders CLOSED. Haven't noticed any change in this in V5

This has also been a wish of mine for many years. Why have years and years of single mammograms, etc?

Yes, now that we are directly importing labs, the list gets long quickly.
