Vinny,
I have noticed that it is actually more difficult to send a PM than an actual post on the board. Anyone else had that experience?
Also, this may sound silly, but would IM (sending an instant message to someone online make sense)? I think it would be fun for those of us who have become acquaintances of friends on here. You could of course be blocked or not seen. Just a crazy thought.
On the moderated board, could we change only the file uploads to have to wait for approval and allow regular replies to go through real time?
Finally, and maybe this could be in one's profile options, can we make Add this topic to my Watched Topics the default. If we did, one could always change it, but I forget at times and then never get back to the thread or have to search all over. Even the IM thing could be an option.

Hi Bert,
Unfortunately UBBthreads has the moderated flag on a discussion by discussion basis. Makes it a pain, as even responses to things like "Great databse! thanks!" or "Nice template!" have to be approved. I'll do my best to keep the lag as sort as possible. Don't worry about creating more work by posting more posts - I can approve them all from one screen where I check off the ones to approve, and it takes no time at all to approve them.
On the ones I posted I also included the XML file so they can be imported directly. Does anybody use this?
I'd LOVE to be able to do either chat or instant message. One possibility would be to set up a chat on Yahoo or something, as we don't currently have a chat server. Another would be to start including our IM handles to various systems in our profiles. (I'm easy to find - I'm vinnymeyer on Yahoo and AOL IM's lol

Vinny: Thank you so much for posting the templates. As far as xml...no I don't use it...I just copy and add to the templates.
Bert: Re IM - I don't use that either...I learned early on it was a "time sucker". Every time I went on the MSN IM would default to show me, and I would be interrupted.
I've not had a problem with sending or receiving private messages.

Vinny, Would you be able to educate the XML (thought it was a new football league) and how to download directly to AC (?) from XML? Thanks.
Perhaps the information should be located for reference in the Helpful Download section.
Thanks.

Barbara,
I agree with the Internet IMs such as Yahoo and MSN, etc. I used to use though awhile back and have four or five friends on it. Of course, you could be offline, but that sort of defeated the whole purpose. But, then someone would come on at 11:00 PM, and the next thing you knew it was 11:45 PM. And, since it was emotionless, and I was tired, we ended up not understanding each other.
But, I would most likely IM with you or Lisa or Roy or Paul, so it wouldn't be that often if it were only on here. Oh, and Vinny too. Just a thought. I saw a fellow provider on here once and PMd him, and he didn't get it until the following day.
Thanks Vinny.

I use Yahoo IM and have had very few problems. I would not be against using it for the Forum.

Leslie,
Now, that I think of it, if you look to the left of your post, there is a lot of wasted space. Not sure if we need the $this_title, although I do recall Vinny saying it was for something. I think just under the name, could be the location and date registered if we even need that. Having the Online button proves my point. Why does it help. You can't IM them PM may never get there while they are on.
How about have certain icons pertaining to what each person is willing to use for communication. So, icons for Yahoo, MSN, Email, etc. If the person is online, maybe the Yahoo or MSN would light up. Having an email icon so you don't have to check the profile would be nice.
Once before the crash, I posted a post asking why more people didn't give their email address. Boy, did I get shellacked. All about SPAM. Trust me, I get enough email I hate such as SPAM and drug companies, I would look forward to an email from anyone. There could be all ways to do it. Maybe clicking on MSN brings you to an MSN Messenger where the user is not on. Maybe they have chosen to not be seen.
What do you think?

Hi Folks.
$this_title is a database bug. It SHOULD put the word "member" up, and does on all NEW members, but when I try to fix this I get a database error. I haven't had a chance to really address it with the UBBThreads people, as it really isn't that important.
The features of the side bar are hard coded into the BBS system - so I don't really have the option of having like a Yahoo link or an AOL link there.
It WOULD be nice to have a place to meet in a chatroom / instant message way.
