I have had a hard time figuring out how to call in medications without signing a new note. The addendum feature seems to work for now, but is the best way to do it? A patient calls in, for example, saying they are nauseated and vomiting, and I want to call the pharmacy for a Phenergan prescription. How should I enter that in AC and save without opening a new encounter? Same goes with making changes to the problem list? (Say I remember a day or two later I realize that their hypertension is not on the problem list)?
BTW: I am using the beta version 3.0.27

The way we do it is that the secretary takes the message and sends it to me with the chart attached. To document the conversation with the pt, press reply and write a brief note and then save to the chart. Next time you open that chart, the saved note pops up. You can also look at past encounters and see the message. Sometimes, I don't need to speak with the pt, especially if the call is about a simple refill. I send the message back to the secretary who calls it in and saves the message so we have documentation in the chart. Hope this helps. The key is to attach the chart to each message and then you have the freedom to save one or a series of exchanges with your staff to the chart.
