I'm sure this has been talked about and maybe someone can point me to the thread.....

We are having a hard time figuring out best practice when dealing with labs. We import directly from Quest. When a provider reviews the lab and then wants an assistant to take some action, what is the best way to do this? When we forward the lab to someone, a copy reappears in the senders msg box. Then if they sign off on it, the entire thread of forwarded msgs disappears! I, for example, received a lab that should have gone to another provier, so I forwarded it. Later, I saw the same lab back in my box as a 'FW,FW'; I then deleted that msg only to discover that it then ws deleted from the other providers box as well. Is this by design? Why?

If we want a nurse to do call backs, is it better to sign the lab and then send a msg to the nurse?

Thanks,

For call backs I review the labs and then use the reminder/e-mail to staff with the information I want. For patients that have normals or issues I want to notify them about I write a letter - actually have a template with places for lab results, etc.

I do not know about forwarding labs - I am the only provider and never forward them.
